That’s what gets me the most. People tell me shit like “Well driving is the most cost-efficient way to get places” and then turn around and gripe they spend more on gas in a week that I do in a month driving a hatchback.

I complain about the midwest a fair amount, but even in the heaviest gas tax state (IL) my last diesel fillup was $3.05 and gas was $3.19. Electricity is 11.4/kwh for summer rates burning that sweet, sweet coal. Think it was 8.9/kwh last winter.

Yea, my thought exactly. They #1 selling vehicle in the country is about to be offered as an electric model, in its most popular configuration, at a price that is extremely competitive with its gas counterpart. But the sky is falling and nobody is serious about EV’s and blah blah. 

The cheapest gas in my town is $4.26 for 87 octane unleaded. I generate electricity for the equivalent of 15c/kwh (pay-what-you-use lease model).
