Why do people get aggressive and punchy when drunk? I just get giggly and stupid. Worst case scenario is telling a flight attendant a really bad joke and laughing for an hour. 

Happens all the time, especially on bottom-feeder Euro airlines serving vacation destinations. Ryanair and the like.  

Exactly. Air travel is not a right. Abuse that privilege, lose it. No fly list for every one of these chucklefucks.

My non-starter idea is to have the passenger compartment separate from the airplane so that all seating and putting bags in place and so forth is done at the gate, long before the plane arrives, giving plenty of time to eliminate the jerks.

You see less of this in First Class because there are fewer people in first class. The rate of drunk abusive jerks is about the same no matter where they are.
