I think the only futuristic part of the XJ was the idea of a unibody SUV. Most of it was already dated by the time the vehicle was released. The design of the vehicle, the drivetrain, the construction of the unibody itself, none of it was really anything new.

The very worst example was from GM back in the '60s and '70s — if you didn't order a clock, they gave you a blank switch with all the lines for a clock, but no hands.

VW Tow Truck?

I was going to come up with something on how we both grew up in Kentucky, but sadly I've lost my creativity beyond that.

Well with the Lexus V8 you aren't making something semi useful into a table.

2 things

My parent's recently bought an Expedition that my dad now calls the Taco, because I mentioned that one of my friends guessed that XLT stood for Extra Large Taco.

My aunt recently had to get towed. The tow truck blew it's transmission in a spectacular manner. The 2nd truck over heated 3 times on the way back to town.

Generally rear engine means behind the rear axle. What your thinking of is rear mid engine. Which means the engine is behind the driver, but in front of the axle.

I think my family does this unintentionally by almost instinctively saying some version of "well they're lost" whenever see an out of state license plate. No idea how this started.

These things are also pretty fun to drive(torque+light rear+rain+slightly heavy foot=weeee) and decently easy on fuel if you get a newer one.

I've noticed that the '08 Expedition my parents has a thing that won't let the windows go all the way up in anyway without letting it stop an inch from the top, and then hit the switch again. One of the more annoying things I've dealt with in a car. And no, the windows aren't auto up, so I don't know what the deal is.

While your truck shouldn't smoke, I'd rather you have a stack on it if it does. Unrelated side note, there used to be a guy who lived down the road from me that had side pipes on his F250, haven't seen that truck in about a year though.

You've somehow given me another reason to want one of those cars.

I'm really not sure how people can't seem to handle them, they are slightly shorter than your average long bed regular cab truck. (by long I mean 8') They just look bigger because they don't have the open area behind the cab. Although I suppose my view of them might be slightly skewed by the fact that I took my

In the late 80s when Chrysler was considering building The Viper, They thought they might use a twin turbo 360 as the engine. So they had Carroll Shelby put one together and then he stuck it in an '87 Dakota to try it out. This is the only picture I can find of the truck. Later there was a Shelby Dakota sold but it

I like the idea of a 3/4 ton Lightning for some reason, no idea why.

Yeah I'm in Kentucky have seen quite a few cheap P71 cars.

Nobody suggested the Saab 92H? Really?

I must admit, I was part of an axle swap on a lifted Dodge, none of our jacks went high enough, so yeah, some sketchy shit went down. Like two old steel wheels with a 2x4 laid across them with a jack stand on top of each wheel, If I remember right we used the engine hoist an a chain around the hitch to lift the truck
