You bring up good points, but I see a lot of the outrage not even about the issue he’s protesting. It’s more about if you think it’s so bad here, don’t cash the checks, or something along those lines.

I think a lot of folks don’t see beyond the headline that he won’t stand for the National Anthem.

It’s not even white/black though. Look at Rodney Harrison’s comments about Kap not being black.

Or maybe people aren’t looking for racism around every corner?

Tons of non-white players do really dumb (or shameful) things, and they don’t get the same treatment.

Ray Rice isn’t white, among plenty of other players who commit actual crimes, yet the NFL does nothing. So I don’t know if it’s racism as much as nationalism or ‘Muricanism.

Wouldn’t that same issue come up with the large number of various criminal offenses committed by other players? (pointed out in another comment)

What I take from this is that executives get more riled up if you aren’t on the ‘Murica train than if you hit your wife or shoot someone in a club.
