I hope he gets cancer like NOW, spends months in treatment, years recovering from it, only for it to return once every few years and kill him off after 20 years. I want him to spend 20 years feeling miserable and sick, withering away awaiting death. (Why, yes, I have had loved ones die of cancer. Why do you ask?)

I hope he gets cancer and dies a miserable death.

That’s exactly right. He’s a pirate captain. People seem to be judging him as a military man like his MCRN and UNN counterparts, and while that’s technically the case right now, it’s not like he ever had a military background, or even training. I think even Zack makes this mistake in his assessment. A lot of people

As much as I hate him, I think his character arc was very believable and well done. He reminds me a lot of a few of the people I was less proud to have served with—tons of cockiness and enthusiasm, convinced that the world is overlooking something special in him and eager to prove them wrong... and not a lot of common

It’s called “enforcing discipline in a crew of pirates, smugglers and newly-minted-servicemen-ex-terrorists”. They were on the clock, they had to stay on course to complete the weapon, and they did not have the luxuty of second-guessing.

Another angle is that Holden is in a situation he can hardly comprehend and has no control over, and has been given the burden of trying to fix it, which is breaking him down- it can’t be that different to Clarissa’s world coming crashing down because of some strange secret plan of her father’s and her trying to

I thought it was marvelous that for this episode, we spent 98% of the time only seeing what it looked like to see Holden as this wack-a-doodle talking to and having obviously a conversation with someone that no one else can even see. Ashford, Drummer and Bobby Draper all alluded to this as an obvious sign that Holden

Not to mention his ever-present smirk. That smirk.

While in terms of structure or story the double episode could be considered “rushed”, they did manage to put enough of an ominous ticking clock into it that it didn’t feel artificially rushed, IMHO. Just things moving headlong forward, and everyone trying to make the best call in the situation.
I’ll disagree with Zack

The character of Clarissa got kind of shafted due to the truncated nature of the season. Her first scene in the series should have been her first scene from the books.  It would have made for an excellent intro.  And her arc in the book is great, but then again the book has the advantage of letting you in on her

I don’t know how strong those Martian suits are and / or if he was able to wiggle himself out of the way before he got smooshed, but I hope he’s dead.

I turned to this show tonight to give me more faith in the human race. Glad I wasn't disappointed.

Hey Siri: does consciousness preclude intelligence?

So I agree that the show could possibly have used an extra episode or two’s breathing space at the end here, just to give the characters a bit more time to shift their positions. Ashford and Melba suffer the most here, as we’re informed of their changes of heart rather than brought through them - A little bit longer

I’ll use the realisation that we live in a bleak, harsh universe and our individuality is incompatible with growing into a successful starfaring species.

Clarissa hearing Holden being willing to risk his life to save everybody was what changed her heart. She realized she had been trying to murder a good man who had kept getting put into impossible situations. She realized vengeance was selfish, that it’s yet another cry for daddy to love her.

Three initial thoughts (having not actually watched it yet, but having read this review):

I was completely blown away by this season and a great finish with this double episode finale.

Damn. Just...damn.
