I am interested in what “the other side” is saying, and I actually find the argument compelling, but I fail to understand how shaming an entire group of people is going to motivate that group to do anything. What is the value of this article? Why is it here?

I have an 8gb copy of wikipedia on the 32gb SD card in my phone. I use aarddict to access and search it all the time. All the world's information is useful in places where there is no cellular or wifi (perhaps traveling abroad, on an airplane, or on a cruise).

Even though Evernote lacks the typical trappings of a to-do list manager (e.g., reminders and checkboxes), it can be a worthy replacement if you set up a system for using it.

Agreed. Samsung shipped some pretty decent headsets, and they have the inline buttons for quick pausing and volume control when the phone is in my pocket. But, they don't sound quite as good as the Monoprice 8320's. I already posted this, but you might consider checking out the Monoprice 9396's. They sound quite a

For those that find the 8320's uncomfortable like I did, I have some good news! After purchasing all of the buds that Monoprice sells and comparing the quality, the Monoprice 9396's sound just as good for $7. The 9397's are pretty decent as well. Stay far away from the 9398's and the 8321's though.

If you already have an Android device with more than 8GB of unused storage, you can use it to install the entire text of wikipedia for local searching. Most of the worlds knowledge available in your pocket, instantly searchable even when you have no network connection. Just install Aard Dictionary (

I've used swype. The prediction isn't as intuitive because lifting your finger to look at the potential predictions has a side effect, so I don't know anybody who derives great value from their presence.

The disadvantage of the swype / slide style keyboards is that they require you to completely spell out whole words. The stock keyboard as well as SwiftKey and the others do word prediction so you don't have to spell out entire words. Also the tap-based keyboards let you use more than one appendage so typing words like

You might consider giving it a second look. It has gotten a lot better and even supports original-page view if there is still a problem scraping content.

I have an ICS device and it already has bookmark syncing (between android devices, not to Chrome on the desktop) and incognito mode. What I really want is more HTML5 support and faster browsing. I'm fairly certain we are getting the former, but due to RAM limitations on these phones, I'm concerned we won't be

Open source doesn't work well for services because they cost so much money to maintain. Sure, there are open source mail clients (web based, desktop, mobile etc), but there are no open source "mail addresses". Even if the provider of a service gives away all of the software it uses, it still has to do something to

@jedcred The term "clone" and "fork" both exist in Linux. A fork shares a common software ancestor while a clone is a piece of software with no common ancestor but still looks strikingly similar. Linux is a CLONE of Unix. RedHat maintains a Fork of the Linux kernel.
