You do realize that a lot of people don’t have the option of working from home? Even people whose jobs can be done remotely still must return to the office. So yes, commuting is still a thing.

And it was certainly rich finance people that saw the short positions and decided to harness the mob. Make no mistake, while there were certainly regular average people that made good money from this (and some that lost), the major winners were finance people who made millions.
