A lot of the io9 commentariat seems to believe this is variously a Disney play so they can start up new series on their streaming service, or a Netflix play to hold the characters hostage and deprive fans of what they so richly deserve.

If you look at the election results this time around, the wins were so much narrower for the GOP. Given that trend, like you, I have high hopes that Texas might deliver blue in 2020.

I’m not arguing that point. Sure, it would have been nice if the Obama vote would have covered that. But I know many independents who voted for Trump in ‘16 (and I would assume voted Pub before that), and who now regret that choice. It seems like there are a lot of conservative-leaning independents who are waking up…

And as a consequence, if they’re “uncomfortable”, I don’t think they are on the fence. I think they’re quietly, perhaps even unconsciously, bigoted.

I think we need to recognize that bigotry isn’t an absolute, and sometimes it helps to give people an out, allow them to choose the better path.

Serkis may be the king of mo-cap, but from the trailer it’s not translated well into the creatures. Very uncanny valley. Considering the movie was delayed for 2 years (according to the studio to work on SFX), it seems...unfinished? Maybe just needs tweaking?

I think they started production around the same time, after the trademark/copyright expired. This was supposed to come out 2 years ago, but after the Disney one made a big splash, they pulled it to “work on the special effects”. Doesn’t look like the effort was worth it.

So, the blue “almost-but-not-quite-but-hey-there’s-a-silver-lining” senate misses in TX and FL are immediately going to bear their ugly fruit?  I need a vacation.

They lost me a long time ago, I got real tired of characters (especially Morgan) yo-yo-ing from revelations of “I don’t want to kill [anyone, or a particular person]” to “I’m going to kill [everyone, or a particular person]” and back again, based on the episode’s events.
