They're round flat things like tiny pistons that the cam lobes push down on to push the valves. If the lobes acted directly onto the valve stems they'd snap in half.

There have been plenty of good explanations, but one thing to keep in mind is this equation:
Any classic car that was originally a family sedan or family sedan with a big motor. The culture around these is the exact equivalent of people in 2060 freaking out every time they see a mint condition '08 Dodge Avenger driving down the road. Just think about that.
My man.
I don't care where you grew up or what it took to get your license, I don't understand how someone could see a blind curve and think "good place to pass".
Damnit Orlove, every time I see a pre-5mph-bumpers 911 it makes me want to convert my '82. It hurts, so I'm asking you to stop.
Yeah fuck you, island!
No no! Keep talking about them! I bought an '82 just last year and I now watch each and every new car on the market with a selfish sense of glee!
So....what the hell happened? How does the suspension get that far out and then just snap back into place? I mean you even hear the pop and creak when it goes out!
Even physicists will wrongly assume that the tire/asphalt interface is purely frictional without considering that there is quite a lot of mechanical interface between the two where the tire will fill voids in the asphalt and push against it, not just along it.
No you aren't. The lack of the off-throttle over-run neuters the excitement. It can't just be WOT noise all the time, the disparity of the off-throttle growl heightens the on-throttle exhaust note. I'll never buy a DCT simply because of this, it's awful.
The 50 pound limit is there for the health and safety of the baggage handlers, not the plane.
That's correct. The whale tail's rubber scoops up on all three sides where the Carrera tail flips up only on the rear. I have a whale tail on my '82, whale supremacy!
Hoover, Alabama seized car right here:
"A thing happened, let's focus on the solution", is always the best way to go, good on ya. I'll never get people who stress and fret when things happen. Take a moment to accept it and get to fixing it best you can.
The little light that could.
Damn am I ever tired of classic American sedans. They're just boring every-day sedans that just happen to be old. It's neat to see them in good condition, but you have to remember there was absolutely nothing special about them back then.
What kind of half-assed list of greatest engines doesn't include the Carrera GT's V10?
Well I'll be sure to forward your comments to the actual race driver of the car that is in no way at all similar to your R32.
Are we seriously arguing about when a driver is hitting the brakes? You guys do realize this is a video taken of the rear of the vehicle. You know... where they put the brake lights?
