@t3knomanser: I have had a blessed existence today, beginning about 2:15.

@nhr908: Spot on. It's always amazed me that any company can a turn a profit, let alone the relatively high profits that tech companies can make.

@john144001: Define exorbitant. At what percentage does profit become exorbitant? 10%? 20%? 50%?

@A7: If the profits weren't there, nobody would make these gadgets.

@wjbean: Yes. Any item has to be fully costed, or the seller risks a loss.

@hawkeye18: It never fails to amaze me that people think companies want to sell something for the least amount possible.

@flinx1: Y'all kinda missed the point. The military wasn't necessarily interested in being leading edge. They wanted best value, with a high premium placed on proven, RELIABLE tech. The latest piece of unobtainium doesn't necessarily meet that requirement.

My now-ex brother-in-law, the retired 2 star Marine general, ran a study for the Marine Corps some years ago trying to pin down how to get the most bang for the buck. Conclusion: purchase 18 months after the launch of a given piece of hardware. Bugs are gone, price is down big-time. Seems to fit with Moore's Law

THAT is a true geek.

I make it a point to wake up at the same time, every day, even on weekends. If I want to sleep in a bit, I still wake up, move around a bit, then go back to bed. Though any more, I just get up.

@Scarbane: Amazing. MS delivers an amazing piece of tech, something truly new and possibly revolutionary, and you think it's insufficient.

@drongch: Ummm, you're not a native English-speaker, are you? Just a guess.

@MagicMT: INGDirect has a Person-to-Person payment feature that is awesome. I use it all the time. You just need the recipient's bank routing number and account number.

@orlo: Not true. I use INGDirect to make all my payments recurring.

@jarhead: Yes, I like reading a lot, but "believing" is my very best friend.

@blueshift9: First time I've seen that one. Usually says it has access to your browsing history, not "all data on your computer and the websites you visit".

@jarhead: Same message on that one, too.

Been looking for something like this and was all ready to install it until it prompted me that the extension would have access to "everything on your computer".

@gobofraggle: Limited service hotels like Hampton Inn have better margins, so can afford to give it away. More upscale places have to fight for every penny.
