I think it depends on the drug and the amount of use. Clearly some drugs people develop a tolerance for (e.g. folks that abuse drugs). But I don't think that's always the case.

Yeah, my wife is an allergist, and that's a pretty common theory as to why there has been such a rise in allergies in the west and particularly America. Her partner, who is from India, often jokes that parents should just take their kids back to India. No allergy problems over there. At least not like here.
