Note that of all the full-line automakers, Toyota IS among the most efficient. They’re way ahead of the big 3. It’s honestly not an apples to apples comparison to include Honda, Mazda, BMW, etc.

The other trucks are using the SAE rating system which is limited mainly by cooling capacity. If not for that test, they could all easily tow a lot more weight up an incline with their 400+ lb-ft of torque.

It’s hard not to sell a “better” version when the previous one doesn’t meet safety or emissions requirements, or have any updated features that would keep people besides the most hard core fans interested.
