Book question: Given their propensity for fire, and the fact that Dragonbinder (a/o possibly related magic/items) exists which could placate Drogon long enough for them to get close to her, couldn’t the followers of R’hllor track down and resurrect Dany? Would they want to, again, given their propensity for fire and

I think all of the pieces were there. She had ideals that she wanted to realize about what a just society looks like, but realized that she could never achieve that by being loved, and so decided to achieve it by being feared. It makes sense at a high level, I just think there were too few episodes to make it work

You literally got that scene in the throne room. Her reasoning is pretty transparent.

I wondered why Yara didn’t speak up at the time, considering that the Iron Islanders pick their kings / queens through a vote. But there she was, laughing at Sam with the rest of them. I guess she wanted to fit in.

After having some time to process it, I think the story behind A Song of Ice and Fire (and by extension, Game of Thrones) is a very solid one. However, I think it is one that is better served by the book format.

I happen to think that overall the show did a pretty good job adapting the books, and even the story where

Funny enough, while this may be an unpopular opinion, I felt like season 3 was the best overall. Maybe not by much, I like all three seasons, but I loved the character progressions and, really, pretty much the whole season. Summer seemed to really arrive last season to mind. I tend to skip Rickmancing the Stone (it’s

Agreed. It was a garbage headline that in no way reflected the content nor the tone of the video in any way.

I get the disdain for organized religion, but if you’re going to write an article with “Fuck Church” in the headline, maybe make sure the article itself represents more than some attempt at being edgy and

One of the big issues in later seasons has been how much development seems to hang on doing what they think the fans want.

Ehh, not really. She’s always been more of a “Smash the state!—now you figure it out” kind of ruler.

If you watch the video, he’s actually saying that, despite how some people online have figured out the ending, and that the show will let us know the ultimate end of the story in just under a week, that you don’t change the story midstream or retcon things. Basically he’s saying he’s sticking to the story to avoid

Meh, sounds like the cast having a bit of fun overall. Sure, they were airing some minor grievances, but most of it felt like them just having some fun lightly at the audience’s expense.

That said, things kind of suck for everybody’s character, so taken from that perspective everything they said tracks pretty well with

She’s still fairly mentally well as of the current episode of the show IMO other than some obvious signs of paranoia showing up. [snip] That alone is a realistically written aspect of her theoretical mental illness IMO)

Short version...yeah, you’re right.

Slightly longer version where I nitpick a bit...

Yeah and what happened right after the walk of shame? The Mountain and Qyburn were waiting for her and picked her right up.

She’s literally the product of 3 generations of incest from a family known specifically for going crazy and killing people with fire. This was not limited to the end of the war you refer to. If you did not see this coming, you werent paying attention.

All week I’ve been perplexed by so many people complaining that the show all of a sudden started hinting that Daenerys was a mad queen. They’ve literally been building this up for the entire show!

This episode (and this season) is where it seems the story suffers from being rushed in a way the books have not and, whenever we get them, probably will not. That’s why some of these stories seem implausible to me.

On paper, sure, I can see why Dany sort of snaps. She has been hunted all her life, was sold to the

Cersei was never that smart to begin with. She’s cruel, but not clever. Never clever.

Has George R.R. Martin said anything about how much his books will deviate from the show?  I am hoping to get some depth from characters and plotlines the show chose to drop that will make for a more satisfying experience.

I’m not hating on the show as such, and still like it. However, I think I like it from an
