Chernobyl was also caused by a natural disaster... Russian engineers disconnecting the damned safety systems in order to run a badly thought out test.

I am fairly neutral on nuclear power but what about the lasting consequences of a disaster? I am a layperson to these things, but if a coal or gas plant explodes does the area become a problem for decades afterwards?

I want us to get off fossil fuels and I would like to see nuclear get better at replacing them, but…
