Sure, I get that, but one would think that “Star Trek” is a bigger and safer brand than Rick and Morty, at least in the eyes of studio execs and people that are probably behind the times but still in power. (Because yes, I realize that Rick & Morty is wildly popular in certain demographics, much more so than Star Trek.

It might have something to do with this show just not looking very good, as in: not funny enough to appeal to the comedy people, and yet much too silly to get the old school Star Trek fans on board. And remember, this is the trailer for a comedy show so they probably put some of the "best" jokes in there, which

The chrome one was so much better than that hideous orange.

You’re coming across as very hostile in all of your replies, so even if you’re not trolling, you’re just unpleasant to talk to, I’m afraid. Agree to disagree about the topic and that will be that.

Those games were freakin epic!!

Take a beat and think about how you’re insulting people for having a different opinion than yours. Poor form and not a good look.

Hah, thank you!!

I’m curious if you’re read the book. I have and it’s honestly it’s own thing, hinting at the themes of Lovecraft but realistically using the pretty awful environment of the Jim Crow era as a counterpoint to the decidedly eldritch horrors. I thought the era and NPC’s truly enhanced just how bizarre the meat of the

I get that, but Lovecraft is super specific. Then just call your book Horror Country. Lovecraft is cosmic horror, about elder gods, things beyond human understanding, etc.

Then it’s a lazy, dishonest title, arguably even selected to lure people in on false pretenses, since “Lovecraft” is a *very* specific thing, it’s not a vague genre term that covers a vast array of things, like for example “science fiction.”

I don’t know if you’re trolling or not, because you’ re in the grey and not exactly polite and civil, but to stick to your examples, a correct comparison would have been that this article is about a coverband calling their album The Beatles Country, even though it will be mostly Radiohead songs.

You need a director with a strong visual imagination and lots of budget”

Don’t get me wrong it’s not actively bad, it doesn’t look embarrassingly cheap or anything, it’s just more “cult B movie” and less “super creepy cosmically terrifying” like the original story.

They did, Nicolas Cage chews the scenery as is customary, but ultimately the movie isn’t great or a must watch.

First of all, it’s not even based on Lovecraft’s work. ...

My bad, and I’m sure it is, but that doesn’t change my mind, if anything, it makes it even more peculiar - rather than directly adapt the criminally underused Lovecraft material, they went with a book based on it.

Yes, I’m fully aware of that, perhaps I should have made that more clear, but it’s my entire point: I would have preferred an actual straight up adaptation of Lovecraft’s actual work over this adaptation of a graphic novel based on it.

I might get a lot of flak for this, because with ill will it could be interpreted badly, but I would have vastly preferred a straight up adaptation of some of H.P. Lovecraft’s actual stories.

That was immensely disappointing, the movie immediately became silly at that exact moment. Audible groans in the theater. Visually Interstellar is beautiful and striking, but my god, that love thing really ruined the plot.

If you like Star Trek to feature rational professionals solving problems and mysteries using science, exploring the galaxy, diplomacy and optimism, you’ll be sorely disappointed.
