I was led to believe the cake is a lie.
Actually they *do* have it on the right side.
PRO: - Love that they are using TNG style design for the ship, the outfits, the LCARS interface, etc.
I hadn’t seen those, I take it they are brand new? I will gladly admit that these 2 angles are infinitely better looking than the one in the pic that was the subject of this article. They even look swooshable, so that's good news.
Fair enough! Like I said, nazis are deliciously evil villains, so I just enjoyed that extra evil layer there.
“The point being, the “rules” of space racism may not have skin color factor into it. There could be other genetic differences. Other “things” that made the Empire’s list of factors for what made people “our kind of people.” With so much diversity of alien races, it makes more sense that the Empire wouldn’t care as…
I would say the reason is just good ol’ fashion anti POC anti alien racism. Which is evil - like the Empire. I always thought of them as space nazi's, I think that similarity was intentional if I remember correctly, like the SS like uniforms etc.
I think it detracts from the evilness of the Empire to have a woman POC as an admiral. I know this might be a very touchy subject, but before you pick up your pitchfork, what I mean is that I enjoyed the Nazi parallels in the Empire, what with it seemingly consisting of only white (albeit British) men.
Good point, the regular police in Belgium typically drive Skoda Octavias, and vans made by Volkswagen. Neither is intimidating, quite the opposite really.
Thanks! Heard of it but never seen it, and definitely didn't know about the ship.

Wait, what franchise, book or movie is this Cygnus ship from? Anyway, such an odd thing to bicker over, but it looks quite swooshable to me. Much longer than it’s tall. Or at least swooshable enough in the sense that it would be fun playing with it if a model of it could be held by hand.
That would be a plausible explanation. Make no mistake, I’m all for characters dying in this type of movies, but it’s much, much more fun and satisfying if the slimey bad guys and villains get torn to shreds in horrible ways instead of innocent background characters.
I have models of both the Reliant and the Defiant - whether or not they are handsome is up for debate of course, but both are supremely swooshable, because they are (like most starships in both Star Wars and Star Trek) much longer than they are tall.
Not really? Notice how it’s much longer than it is tall? I don’t know that particular ship, but if it was scaled down to fit on a shelf or be held in your hand, it would be very swooshable.
Here’s hoping they can help recapture some of the magic of the first one, and yes, of The Lost World, because the last 3 (!) movies have been pretty abysmal.
The difference is that almost all of the Wolf 359 ships were "swooshable" and looked like proper starships. The Cerritos just looks like a Galaxy saucer on stilts, it's way too tall to be "swooshable". It's basically taller than it's long, so the proportions are way off. It wouldn't look good as a model on your shelf,…
“He cheated on her a bunch and tried deflecting that with “I’m a feminist! Look, I created Buffy! I love women!””
That ship is incredibly hideous, it's basically taller than it's long. The design language is nice though, so the intentions were good, but the execution... If they reduced the struts by two thirds it might work, but as it is now, that's just ungainly looking. It's not... Swooshable, for lack of a better word. And…
Exactly. Alien is a dark movie, and just because Aliens had soldiers and oneliners doesn’t mean the universe it takes place in is any less dark. Even as a kid (what, 12ish?) I understood that Ripley’s tragedy was that she was forever cursed by the alien, which was part of what made those movies so utterly terrifying.
