Maybe I’m misreading your post, but you seem pretty hostile, not sure why that is. Did I say anything particularly mean? I don’t think so - I stand by what I said, which is that it’s pretty surprising for a professional sci fi writer on a pop culture sci fi blog to *take pride* in not even bothering to try and see *any

Of course it's not a contest, and it's not like I'm "angry" or anything, but I maintain that it's pretty crazy for a sci fi writer on a sci fi pop culture website to take pride in not even wanting to see these shows, most of which, like the movies in my fake list, are kind of essential.

Yeah it’s pretty mindblowing. Most of these aren’t just “any” show, these are all pretty essential. By no means have I seen all of them, nor am I planning on seeing those that I haven’t yet, but *zero* out of all of these? As a professional nerd writing for a sci fi blog? Holy shit.

If his TV show list is anything to go by, this is the list of sci fi and genre movies German has never seen, and isn’t planning on seeing:

Yep, it’s absolutely mind boggling. It’s like a writer on Deadspin (RIP) saying he doesn’t really like football, basketball, baseball, hockey, and soccer.

Yeah this list is crazy. Everybody for sure has a list of shows, but this one is basically a top 10 of essential shows one has to like to even be allowed to come near this site. And he’s a writer.

Wash dying was absolute bullshit.

I thoroughly dislike Discovery, but I must admit (based on what I saw, which was not everything) he was an amazing Pike.

You're right, sadly.

there really are people out there on the internet that complain about the new shows on the basis of being “too SJW”, or whatever. I also don’t love the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but I hate that I’m at least nominally on the same side as some truly gross internet assholes.”

At it’s core, Trek is about an optimistic view of humanity, and of humanity’s future. It’s about a belief that humans of the future will be better than we are, not just technologically, but as people and as a society.”

“Even something like Transformers, which despite being a kids’ show made to sell cartoons, had a lot of heart and a certain integrity, which were obviously leeched out of the movies.”

I feel the same way. I hate Discovery too, but that show can be easily dismissed as Kelvinverse garbage, and (to play devil’a advocare here) at least it looks like every episode cost millions of dollars.

“Data Chandler, let me just say that it warms my heart to see you fighting the good fight...”

I see now that I let my frustration and disappointment get the best of me, and I used confrontational, harsh language, which almost everyone of my detractors is taking me to task for, while overlooking the point I was hoping to make. I should have steered clear of the vitriol and should have just dispassionately

What are you even talking about?

Also, giant flowers? Were those just preexisting 3D models that were dirt cheap to use?”

You haven’t taken into account Discovery. In comparison, Picard is a real treat to that garbage."

It’s that Picard pulled them all together in what seemed like an act of desperation and only after he did, do we find out that each one of them is somehow key to figuring out what’s going on.”

Oh my, it must be an incredibly trying time for you. Truly a frontline soldier at this point... Hang in there! Much respect for you, truly.
