How could the only original musical on TV be shut out of ‘Best Original Song’ category? What song was in any way superior to Crazy Ex Girlfriend’s ‘The miracle of birth’ or ‘The first penis I saw’ and ‘Maybe she’s not such a heinous bitch after all’ or ‘The end of the movie’? Or any of the other two dozen+ songs…
Nothing for The Terror? Really, Emmy voters? I thought Jared Harris and Adam Nagaitis would be shoo-ins for acting, and that Ciaran Hinds, Paul Ready, Tobias Menzies, and Ian Hart had decent chances, while Marcus Fjellstrom’s score was wonderful, the cinematography was brilliant, and the writing and direction were…
Agreed, he deserves the award more than anyone else in his category.
“Fuck you, Gordon!”
“Now it’s personal.”
“Oh, you want personal? Fuck you too, Albert!”
Tulpa Diane was, to borrow a line from We Hate Movies, a surly delight, and even though I knew it was a long shot, I was still holding out hope for her getting a supporting nom for her work on this season.
Not to mention, briefly, Tulpa Dougie and the offputting lawful but not heroic version of Cooper (?) in the last episode.
Got a light?
The Emmys are only going to get more and more off kilter as “television”, in its various forms, continues to expand. There were something like 500 scripted shows in production this year. The Emmy’s operate on a peer voting system, which means it’s other people in the entertainment industry who nominate. Everyone in…
Legion, Howard’s End, & Twin Peaks got snubbed HARD
Yeah the second season wasn't that great, but did you see Twin Peaks: The Return? Sooo good.
If this is for shows that were eligible for this Emmy run, Halt And Catch Fire leads the pack. Bojack second. Brockmire deserves a mention here as well.
Wait... Ozark got a nomination. I read all of those nominations and somehow forgot. Much like what happened when I watched and immediately forgot the first episode of Ozark.
He was nominated for Guest Actor In A Drama Series
Tulpa Diane was great. She was over the top in the best way. I loved her parting words “F*** you”
Noah Emmerich and Holly Taylor for The Americans. Alison Brie and Marc Maron in GLOW. Literally anything for Dear White People. The anti-CW bias continues to hurt Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin. The pro-HBO bias continues to carry Westworld, Game of Thrones, and Silicon Valley. Black Mirror: USS Callister rece…
Honestly, MacLachlan for Best Actor is the only nomination that “The Return” really deserved. Now I personally loved (most of) the series, and indeed Chapter 8 was unbelievable and probably the single best thing I saw last year, but I can understand why the divisiveness of the series as a whole would be too…
MacLachlan not even being nominated is a travesty. He played three distinctly different characters on “The Return”, all of them awesome.
Not just Kyle, but also Laura. I didn’t see the Tale, but Tulpa Diane was a study in all you can do with a character made from props, costume and mannerisms to make her also real, compelling and watchable.
Also, he wavered on Darth, too. Let’s not forget that he did have that exact same look on his face when he realized that he was about to murder his dad that he did when he realized he was about to murder his nephew. (Have I mentioned how damn much I love Mark Hamill’s acting choices in TLJ?)
Wait, there are people who don’t already know this?? It was obvious to me the first time I saw it in the theater and I was five years old at the time. Luke looks down at his mechanical hand, realizing that he’ll become like Vader if he kills him.
