Oh Donnaaaaaaa! Donna Strunk!!!
dasstrunk

Lol at her putting “no offense” at the end there. CPS, come get this child.

Right?! I figure if these folks really want to go back to a simpler time in America, what could be more nostalgic for them than their kids coming home saying “I was pelted with rocks at recess today!” #MakeAmericansGetPeltedWithRocksAgain

That is so great! She’s a real gem, hang onto her as long as possible!

United apparently doesn’t require it anymore but as far as I know the others do even domestically. (I haven’t worked as a tech for a little over 5yrs so things may have changed since I was privy to the airline paperwork) I believe United decided that their PetFly program or whatever it’s called is enough but that

Well the rumors have been around for a while and are unsubstantiated but I believe they started mostly because trump himself believes (or believed at one time) that vaccines cause autism and people wondered if his stance was due to defensiveness about his own son possibly being on the spectrum. People drew a line

Totally understandable and yeah, sometimes it’s just the only way and the benefits outweigh the risks. I’ve fostered for a rescue that flies dogs to the states from places like Puerto Rico where the strays would sometimes not be as physically fit as the vets would like them to be prior to air travel, but leaving them

THANK YOU. Jesus, as if dogs need to be more magical. They love the human race unconditionally despite us not deserving it at all, is that not enough?

This deserves way more stars.

New gun buy back idea: healing crystals! Trading in one potentially deadly and false sense of security for a relatively harmless and false sense of security makes perfect sense to me.

You’re a great dog owner and you have an awesome vet!

I too still think the 90s were like, last year and often find myself very confused. And your comment has reminded me that Alicia Witt is awesome and should be in more stuff. And also that Alicia Vikander was like ten years old in 1999 and now I’m deeply disturbed about the passage of time.

Totally feel you on this, I’ve fostered for a rescue that flies dogs in from the islands and it’s always a concern because their health status and age is relatively unknown until they get stateside. (Vets in some of these places are few and far between and they’re completely overwhelmed) There are definitely times

I’m happy to hear it, although I know what a pain in the ass it is and that’s before factoring in the extra costs. As I recall Southwest is another airline that has stringent requirements and I’m all for it despite the inconveniences it can cause for travelers.

The veterinarians are the truly awesome ones, I’m just here to spread their good advice ;)

Also extremely possible/likely. The fact that a flight attendant (and maybe more than just that one) need to be specifically told to NOT put a living thing in the overhead makes me want to never get on a plane again, forget about bringing my dog along.

That must be a huge reason why 3/4 of the yearly pet deaths on airlines are on United. For the record, it is a terrible idea to put an animal on a plane without an exam first. Like, this is so negligent I’m dumbfounded.

Yes they are, but often they can only say they try to keep it above 50 degrees, but that it isn’t guaranteed and nobody is checking on them mid flight (which is also why you can’t drug them when they’re going to ride in the cargo hold). They require what they legally have to but no, their concern doesn’t usually

I had to skim a lot of the story because once I saw the words “overhead compartment” I knew how this ended and didn’t want more visuals. It’s really, really distressing that a flight attendant didn’t know this, and more so because apart from the clear negligence, it doesn’t even seem like a good idea. I don’t think

This. And for what it’s worth, hardly any vets I’ve ever worked with traveled with their pets. There are a few reasons, certainly part of it is that working in that field means a lot of free or low cost pet sitting provided by well trained colleagues. There’s also the common reason that those who work with animals

I’m baffled by this too. I don’t know of any vet that would sign off on the required travel papers if they stated it was an airline option to put them in the overhead. I’ve seen a lot of airlines’ pet travel paperwork and they always state that the pet is to ride either in cargo (if over 30-35lbs) or specifically
