Exactly this. Even if you live in a deep blue or deep red state, voting in down ballot races is key. Local legislatures decide many of the issues that directly impact you and also the ability to make the changes you want to see.

That is such an important point!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The local stuff is, well, local, so it matters more, but it often takes more effort to learn about the local stuff. After all, this stuff isn’t on the news every night. 

He’s not my favorite either, but given what has happened in the last 3+ years, we’ve had a taste of what it’s like to have a truly incompetent government headed by a dangerous narcissist, and it’s fucking frightening. It’s all about competency at this point.
