I haven’t heard his justification for this. One thing that I agree with him on is the “paycheck transparency” thing is total bullshit. That’s a great way for your competitor to know how much you’re paying someone and then steal them and/or start a bidding war for him/her.

To be fair, nothing he’s done should surprise anyone because he made it clear that he was going to do this all along.

The fact that Sanders, a guy who never claimed to be a Democrat, came in and almost got the nomination tells you a lot about what a lousy candidate Hillary was.

Jesus, Hillary lost among white women. You can’t blame that on Bernie Sanders. Are you genuinely saying white women “can’t handle a woman being in charge”?

“The Cowboys quarterback announced his retirement today and you could make the argument that he’s the greatest quarterback in the history of his franchise.”

I agree with you and, frankly, have no problem with people calling into question US support for Israel. Granted, immediately after 9/11 is an incredibly dumb time to bring it up, and loyalty pledges are something only a sports radio dipshit would actually contemplate, but the general concept is one that we need to be

At this point, does anyone really give a shit about sports radio hosts at all? They’ve oversaturated the market with so many people talking so much shit that I can’t stand any of them anymore. They all come across exactly the same to me and, at this point, I’ve said “enough’s enough” and stopped listening.

You’ll have to define who you’re including “in the middle”. If you’re talking about the working poor, doesn’t the ACA provide them an avenue for coverage?

The poor get care now. If they don’t get it through Medicaid, they just show up at the ER for routine services. That problem is well-documented.

I understand that. But that results in a two-tiered system because the rich will obtain additional coverage that allows for better access, likely better quality, a broader ranges of services available, more/better options during hospitalization, etc.

Poor people get mediocre treatment now. They just show up at the ER to get it and thus drive up costs for all.

Uh, I’m fairly sure obtaining quality health care at a price point someone is comfortable with would not qualify as a “stupid” decision. If more people did the same, we wouldn’t need a law to make people get health insurance in the first place.

Sorry, I don’t have a crystal ball and am not so stupid as to pretend I do.

It’s not different. That’s the point. Under so-called “single payer” you end up with a two-tier system virtually identical to what we have now.

You’re correct but I think we’re talking about different definitions of “rich”. If we went single payer, some people would opt to either pay out of pocket for services or else they could procure insurance that provides more services/access than provided everyone else.

They passed the ACA without any GOP support.

I know. There’s nothing that can be done to prevent it here if the US goes single payer, either. That’s going to be part of the problem.

Correct. You could call the system “single payer” but that would just be the label on it. You’d end up with a two tier system where the wealthy pay more to get better access and, highly likely, better overall care.

Then you’ll end up with the same inequitable system you’re complaining about now. The rich are going to get better care and the poor will not.

To be fair, it’s not just the GOP that sold its soul. The Democrats had a chance to implement single payer during Obama’s first term and they didn’t. They were fairly lucky to get the ACA passed and they had to make significant concessions to even do that.
