@egoimago: I was in the same situation last month. I bought a GTX 460 1GB and I would highly recommend it. Of course, it's also affected by your CPU, but I have a mid-range CPU and I've run Crysis and BFBC2 at full settings with high anti-aliasing.

As a new owner of a Gigabyte GTX 460 1GB, I highly recommend one to anybody looking for a new graphics card. And that recommendation is a very high one — I feel like it's by far the best card on the market.
