I'm sorry, I just don't see how the Manti Te'o situation can in any way be in the same league as being a rape victim. If a rape victim is not leaving his/her rapist, I'd imagine that reaction is rooted in fear and oppression.

Wow. How do you get that from what @firelanekiffin said? Some of the rhetoric in these response threads to @mollymlf05 is kind of incredible.
You are correct—even in 2010 her fashion biz was ringing in at $1B. This is a big accomplishment. I like her, too, because 1. I think she's pretty real about who she is. 2. I accidentally bought a pair of her shoes for $19 (sale!), and people continually assume they are YSL. 3. I once heard her sing Amazing Grace…
I agree. With one kid, I toss the babe in the carrier and off we go on our adventures in the city. Whee! I know that when/if we have another kid in the mix, those days are over. Two kids may be double the fun, but it's exponentially harder.
Oh, I'll also add that I really like the Ergo because it has a pretty roomy pocket on the front—perfect to put my wallet, phone, keys and lip balm (or one diaper and small wipes if just running out quickly). I'd also recommend a changing pad. One of the first times I took my baby out to a restaurant (2 weeks old), he…
Question: what did you find best for use as a hip sling? I have an ergo and still use it with my babe (he's 27 pounds now). I think I can rig it as a hip carrier. But did you find the moby or mei tai was better for the hip carry?
Well, sorry. I don't have time to read every single thread on every single article. 4 days difference between her move date and birthday. Quite possible that in recollecting the time she moved to the city, she would just say 21? To be technically correct, one would say "a few days shy of 21." But I think most people…
Had you read the timeline of my posting you would have seen that your responses to other commentors had not been made at that time. If you graduated at 21, why question that possibility for someone else? Why am I even responding to you?
Are you arguing that a man who was a civil rights attorney, a professor of constitutional law, a state congressman, a US Senator—not to mention served as President for 4 years—is NOT an expert on law and public administration? If so, what would one have to do to be considered an expert in these areas? Truly…
I agree—the author's son sounds like a regular stubborn kid to me. Many, many children go through phases where they will only eat specific things (ex.: my former boss' daughter would only eat white foods, a cousin of mine would only hot dogs for a little while). This is not a "food issue," it's a normal kid thing (one…
You should check out the Q&A with the author in NY Mag this week...puts some things from the original article in perspective:
I was just going to post that link, thank you. I thought this woman sounded like a beast after the Vogue article. However, in the context of the book and after reading that NY Mag interview, I really think she was just trying to be a good parent to her child and help her find ways to be healthier, a process that…
Swimmers who accept endorsements (in the eyes of the NCAA, a pro) can compete in the Olympics (see: Phelps, Lochte, Coughlin, et al).
In addition to the Bittman piece linked to above, there was a comprehensive article on cooking with a microwave in the NY Times last week:
As many people have stated, getting a degree by age 21 is totally common (I was barely 21 myself when I graduated—I had a very late birthday). There are things called scholarships. And not everyone who goes to an Ivy (esp Brown) is stereotypically "academic"—who says you can't be smart, educated...and crazy about…
She was in very good financial shape BEFORE she and Big got engaged—the character had a fair amount of success once her books were published. Remember how Berger dumped her on a post-it? They had several eps leading up to that that established he couldn't handle her success. And in the movie she was able to buy back…
She also has an obligation to protect her family. And a right to live her life in the manner in which she sees fit. Something that people forget is that Foster made decisions to be more private about her life in general after a wacko decided to take make an assassination attempt on President Reagan in order to get her…
Yes, I'm in the industry and I work with PINK directly at times. In my recent experience, PINK is very deliberate about steering clear of designs that might be perceived as teenybopper whatsoever. They probably design for someone who is in her early 20s, with an optimal target of someone who is 19. (BTW, 2002 is a…
Yes, there are teens in college, but marketing to a teen in college is different than targeting high schoolers. Not commenting on the right or wrong of the tactics, but I do know what PINK's specific demographics are in terms of who they market to, and it is definitely not anyone younger than college.
It is explicitly designed for and marketed to college-aged women. And while it is popular with teens (and, yes, sometimes preteens...well, women of any age who like cotton panties and loungewear), there is a difference.
