"...the guy who has not paid what he owes in taxes since, uh, forever. I mean, 13% income tax rate on an income of more than a quarter million dollars per year? That's a lower rate than I pay, and I'm poor as hell."

Just noting that articles calling Lewis "silly" were doing so in response to the following Lewis quote, something she said at a rally in reference to her need to return to negotiations: "I've got to go back to the silly part of my day. ... Y'all continue to have fun. Show each other some love." Many, many people who

YEs, the shows right now are showing their Spring 2013 collections. Stores will make orders based on what they saw in the shows (or more likely, in private appointments also held this week). And the clothes will deliver in February...but you can get stuff that looks just like it for a fraction of the price at H&M,

Oh good! Only 50% wrong. ;) Thanks.

Ah, my bad. Netflix eps!

I am pretty sure they are shooting an Arrested Development movie, not another season of the TV show.

Love her. No apologies.

I've posted this in a couple of comments within this thread—sorry for the repeat. But here is the lead-up to the quote in question:

Oops, typo! Of course, Tom Brady. If you read the whole thing in context, it's not as boorish as it reads above. It's actually an astute observation...

I posted this in reply to a different comment on this thread. But I clicked to the source article, and once I got the full picture, Ford wasn't really being an ass...this time (IMO, anyway).

I think it's worth noting that Ford said this as he was interviewing Tom Brady. More important, the quote directly leading up to the one being widely reported offers some context:

You are correct. And while I agree Ford is an ass, what he is saying—about what the women experience—is true. My mother is a beautiful woman, to the point that it was all people focused on as she grew up: the idea that being a beautiful wife was her crowning achievement. She became so used to people calling it out

Why the assumption that a young woman is buying things she can't afford? It's not like the ad says "Bank account at zero. Fill the void." Many young women live within their means—including their fashion purchases.

She's the Gray Lady. I suppose all the pearl clutching is par for the course... ;)

Yes. So bizarre. I noticed their weird write-around references to the blog "Fuck I'm in my 20s" in their lengthy profile of that blogger—couple weeks ago maybe? But in the STFU example, it was particularly bad, because they used her tagline without any reference of any kind—even sanitized—to the actual blog. That is

Erin, you need to go to STFUparents immediately. I look at this amazing blog frequently—what people post about their children—from poop pics to what they call "sancti-mommy" rants and the ever popula "mommyjacking"—is mind boggling. And I'm a parent! Love STFU, it's totally amazing.

I never said LLL was carrying out a bullying campaign, those are your words. I have had personal experience with a LLL leader who suggested that giving a baby formula was potentially dangerous. How helpful! How balanced!

I am on a parenting forum in the US. Recently a member posted about how an expectant mom and her family's home had burned to the ground. She was asking for donations of baby goods for the family. Really lovely gesture, right?

You have clearly never had a conversation with a La Leche League rep—a.k.a. vigilante nursing brigade. Yes, some of this is amped up because it generates page hits. But there is a lot of shaming directed towards women who chose formula, regardless of reason. It sadly happens all the time and not just in New York.

It is not harder than it was before, but people now have the option of temporarily supplementing with formula if the babe isn't getting enough from the mom to start. Sometimes this leads to an overall switch to formula for whatever reason the family decides.
