ONE black guy, to be precise. Wanted to edit that typo but I guess kinja doesn’t let you do that anymore? Although the typo is in keeping with a Filipino accent, so a bit apropos.

Another second-born here, plus the middle girl of 3. Also am the only one raising children, happily married and never divorced and steadily employed for the past 12 years. BUT I will concede that I am the black sheep in a Filipino family for having married outside my race (a black guys, coincidentally).
Very sorry for everyone here who has had to take time off to care for sick and dying parents. My sisters did the same when my mom was dying of cancer, and my younger sister still seems to be finding her way after that time derailed her college career.
Depends.
I have this tent. I still look longingly at the Sport-Brella, especially when it went on sale on Amazon this week and when our friends quickly set theirs up on our annual beach day, but I still have a toddler who must absolutely nap, so it makes sense to have it still.
Those cops obviously have never been in a chase before; everyone knows you only beat on the dude if the chopper ends up behind a tree.
I have no problem staying off my phone while at work, BUT I do get distracted by tweets, Facebook posts, articles, etc. I suppose I just remember too well what it was like to not be constantly riveted by news, tweets, and status updates.
Use your words.
Not so much attentive as exploitive.
Same.
I’ve been telling my three rambunctious boys I want to cancel Mother’s Day if they don’t start behaving.
Yeah, I’m that mom.
Hm. I grew up learning to cook differently from this, it seems. By the time I left my mom’s house I knew how to cook at least three Filipino dishes (to all be eaten with rice, and I feel no shame in having a dedicated rice cooker), how to pick fresh fish and shellfish, how to clean and cook fresh tilapia at home (I…
Second this for women’s socks. I have flat feet and have been adhering to booties for work so I can wear athletic socks but still appear put-together.....but women’s athletic socks are so sad. I swear, my kids baby socks were thicker. So I went for men’s athletic socks instead (plus they came in black and gray!) and…
Possibly because they can spell paid?
I ❤️ sleeping on my stomach but three pregnancies in six years (and my husband ferociously monitoring my sleep position on my left because all my pregnancies were complicated) broke me of that habit. I only do it now at nap time, my sweet, sweet nap time.
There absolutely is a wage gap for women, women of color, men of color, etc. Essentially, if you’re not a white male, you probably don’t receive all you can potentially get. But the difficult part is that in many cases you end up comparing apples with oranges. I consider myself to be very fortunate -- generally stable…
Pretty sure if you try to immediately comply when a baby is crying by using a nearly guaranteed method to calm a baby (i.e. pop a boob in baby’s mouth), that could get you booted off a plane too.
I’m no fan of this (abhorrent, ridiculous, hysterical) administration, but might you be taking this just a bit out of proportion? Not eating meals with women alone who are not their wives is a pretty common declaration among men who profess to be Christian and are in leadership roles, especially at their respective…
Oops, my bad! I mixed you up with Kristin, I think. I’m betting the SF laundromat services are way more expensive, then.
Not sure what part of LA you live in, Heather, but in my corner of the Valley, there are quite a few laundromats that have a fluff and fold service for as little as 25 cents a pound. I’ve seriously considered it, because I have three little boys who all love to just wallow in the dirt and a full-time job.
Mostly, I…
