I am happy i wasn't the only one incredibly disappointed at that.

i thought the 1955 version had sort of blond hair.
Eva Green deserves everything! God I love her so much.
I love Robin Wright too, but HoC isn't very good at all. And she basically stands around stoically. Well, she had a few great scenes, but yeah…
Lizzy brought me to tears in last season's finale. They really are doing great stuff over there.
Oh shit! I didn't even realize this! I swear there should be a casting Emmy, because those flashback kids were AMAZING!
Yeah, I think the biggest point of it was not letting the "ew gross" guy reaction stand. It was never really about the women, but like the reviewer said, men explaining to men how to behave. I dunno, I approve!
After watching Penny Dreadful at near manic levels (There's an African Explorer character in it, complete with an explorer mens club full of club chairs and "exotic" servants), I found it hysterical.
I really thought it hit all the right notes. I loved that they used the music from The Sims for the title card for the "TED" talk. I snorted.
Maybe you steel yourself up when you are going to watch movies like Sophie's Choice or something so that you don't cry. You just weren't expecting anything from this popcorn show.
I don't know, she seems to wear simple shirt and skirt combos like she just picked a couple of things out of her closet, and people like Betty are in these full blown voluminous skirts. And the hair gets sloppy. I don't know how to explain it. Maybe it's the lower income bracket or something. Maybe it's all in my…
oh god, and the people who suggest veggie pizza when we are ordering, like that's healthier. just get what you like and EAT IT! Nobody cares about what you're eating! (took me a LONG time to get there myself, but I now have no patience for it…NO PATIENCE!)
Exactly, people keep saying its a "poor man's Mad Men" but it's just a more realistic portrayal of that period, not stylized as you said. Their outfits and hairstyles are more efficient, less "OH MY GOD LOOK AT THIS!". The stylized thing is amazing too, and pretty much the only reason I stuck with Mad Men til the end.
I actually just watched the entirety of Big Love recently, having never seen it before. No snark, but what did you see as moments of brilliance in Big Love? I didn't get the added enjoyment of watching the show with people and dissecting it. I'd like your take.
I think an abortion story line is a good place for the show to go. An abortion in 1966 (65? whatever) by a sex researcher is an interesting topic to me.
I care about how Master and Johnson raise their teenagers in regards to sex. I want to see just how deep their sex positivity goes.
I love that this show is period, but allows people to be messy. I love how their hair gets out of place and ratty at times. I feel like Mad Men kept everyone's hair perfectly in place and you didn't get to see the period "lived in" for lack of a better term. Do you know what I mean? And I don't mean like messed up…
Mine too, but i feel like my "name the day player" muscle is starting to atrophy with my reliance on it.
That's now I feel, the kids were more than just props in this episode, and with the kids wanting nothing to do with the series, I can see why they needed to put that in there.
I think that's kind of the point, the kids are so blended, they are in this sort of non traditional family with ginny and Bill anchoring it.
*gazes in teenaged amazement and admiration at how cool you are*
