Okay, so it's useless at this point.

@Platypus Man: Okay, then, Firefox is the desktop application that does email and calendar (like Outlook), documents (like MS Office), plays video (via YouTube, and others), and plays games (albeit crappy browser games). The catch is, Chrome and Opera can do the exact same things, and so can IE and Safari. So maybe

I'm gonna second... or third... whatever... the Linux rec. Don't give him root and he can't mess it up. Linux will get on the web, it comes with an office program, some games, it's perfect for a novice. The learning curve is steeper than Windows, but for a novice, they're both pretty steep, and going from Linux to

Hey, I dig the idea, but does it keep you logged in? On Firefox, I have to login every time I come to the site. What good is an extension like this unless you're already logged in? I'm just wondering.

If a site makes me do extra work, I just find another site. Lately I've been going to Wallbase. They scrape the 4chan wallpaper boards, and you can filter by SFW/Sketchy/NSFW, the three wallpaper boards they scrape, resolution, aspect ratio, etc. Make sure cookies are enabled and it will remember your settings. Free

I must be terrible. I just use Google Docs (word processor). Or if I don't mind it just living on my phone and not syncing with anything, TxtPad (Android app, I paid for it, it was just $1).

Okay. Mozilla Firefox 5 is a desktop application. So Firefox+Google Calendar. Beats any of the others.

I'm not gonna make the cashier punch my number in by hand. I've worked in retail (and I believe everyone who shops at retail should be required to work in retail for 18 months at least and work both holiday seasons with no holidays off) and I would never make them work harder than necessary because I'm too lazy to

@DustinLuck: Weird, the hold is only $1 around here, but one gas station we shop at has a warning on their pumps that "Netspend" cardholders get a $50 hold, but that it's the card issuer's fault, not theirs. In any case, you can avoid the hold by leaving your card with the clerk and paying after you pump. The

@ihityouinthenose: No, CTRL+scroll doesn't zoom in/out the whole screen in Windows. Just makes text/images bigger in the browser (Firefox). CTRL++ and CTRL+- does the same thing but it's not as simple.

I would have to think about this. I'm gonna ignore Phone/Dialer/Contacts and my SMS app (even though it's not stock) because those are the phone's regular functions. I use the Facebook app a lot, and Dolphin Browser HD, and FBReader for eBooks. Those are the big 3. LauncherPro counts, I guess (home screen replacement,

@Platypus — It is an opinion. The only throwback I tried was Mountain Dew, and I didn't like it. It didn't taste as crisp, as fresh. But, I've since made two changes to my diet.

@404: Thanks. No, I just checked the FAQ and something like "About CSA".

10. How about, don't use ATMs? They're a target for robberies, and even if the ATM itself is free, your bank might charge you. What you do is, find a grocery store, grab something cheap, and get cash back. You can also usually do any amount, not just multiples of $20 (unless you go to Walmart — they have $20

Yeah, but how much does it cost? They don't seem to say on the site. My father always said, if they don't give you a price up front, it's probably too high (intended for people who don't worry what something costs).

@JulieGomoll: The iPhone screenshots reflect the fact that the service is SMS-based. Doesn't matter what phone you have — even dumbphones work. The BlackBerry app is a dedicated app — doesn't mean you need a BlackBerry to use the service. Anything that can SMS will do. Which is probably every cell phone out there

I hate Amazon, but I'm on Team Amazon WRT "Appstore". Last I checked, Amazon wasn't selling iOS apps, so there's no way customers could be misled. It's clearly for Android, and it's further clear (to me and my leaps of logic) that Apple is threatened by Android and doesn't want to allow the illusion that Android's app

@KillerKoala: An interesting hypothesis, but unfortunately incorrect. Pressing the unlock button once, releasing it, and then holding it does not roll all the windows down, either.

VOTE: Google Calendar. Pretty much what KatsumeBlisk said below, plus, I'm not really a "Calendar person". Google's web app plus the app on my mobile makes it so easy that I don't have to be. And I don't really see a need to download and install an app that does the same thing since I already have desktop and mobile

I don't care Mozilla's versioning. They're just trying to play catch-up to Microsoft and Google. Firefox 5 is just Firefox 4.1 with a higher version number. Sorry about your bad luck with it on the Mac; on Windows, it's the best browser whether 4.1 or 5 or 27.2.9.
