It has to do with how death certificates are filled out. Basically, the immediate cause of death (like heart failure) comes first, then other contributing factors. So a death certificate might list Covid somewhere in the middle of a list of problems, particularly for someone that was elderly and/or had other health

For what it’s worth, I grew up watching my parents go through the motions of a marriage. They stayed together first for us, and then once we were grown, because it was a habit. They live separate lives, have vastly different hobbies, and really share a domicile and a name. For all intents and purposes, they’re just

Awesome baking trick I was given a while back that has completely changed how I make box cake mixes - sub out the water with milk and the vegetable oil with melted butter, and add an extra egg. It makes the box mix cake taste basically homemade!

Sometimes I add butterscotch chips instead - it gives it an extra layer of flavor, especially if it’s a basic milk chocolate box brownie!

Works for me! Maybe we find him a spot right near where the bears come out of hibernation in the spring?

Jesus Christ, no! We’re still trying to crowbar Cathy I-have-my-lips-firmly-attached-to-The-Party’s-ass McMorris-Rodgers out of here. We don’t need that little shit coming around and trying to take her place!

Congrats on the planks! For the yellow squash, I’ve got a casserole recipe that’s good - Grease or spray with Pam a Pyrex dish (I always use a bread pan) then layer in squash slices, diced onion, and cheese (Mother used American, but I like cheddar). Repeat 2-3 times if you have room. Cover with foil. Bake at 350

I’m so sorry a migraine stole your Saturday! I have chronic migraines as well, and while I’m sure you’ve tried a whole bunch of things, I can say that topiramate has worked wonders for me in helping cut back on the number and severity of the headaches. As for when they hit, a soak in a tub of hot water can also help -

Speaking as someone on disability, this is what I put up with pretty much all the fucking time. There’s this incredible belief among most people that receiving any kind of government benefits is essentially ‘free money’ and that anyone who CAN get that would OBVIOUSLY prefer just collecting benefits to working. And I

Awww, the poor baby! Should you have any problems in the future, I can HIGHLY recommend Arm & Hammer’s deodorizing dog shampoo. Our rescue dog apparently tangled with a skunk at some point before coming to us and you can smell it when he gets wet, and nothing the groomers were trying was working, but that one actually

Soul food seasoning! It’s absolutely amazing for pork and chicken both. You can usually find it at the dollar store or Big Lots, some place like that - it has salt, garlic, paprika, onion, black and red pepper, and some other spices. Nothing too hot or kicky, but it really brings out the flavor beautifully.

(Let it be known that I’m only telling this story to get Kidlet to tell his own personal Christmas Story debacle...)

Yep, we’re all doing some serious happy dancing over it!

Thanks! And there’s an idea - may have to put together some kind of musical marathon to celebrate as a lil private party!

Yay for your dad!! That’s awesome news - I’m so glad y’all got it!

Thanks! She’s doing great, and we’re so very thankful for it.

Oh yeah, we’re absolutely thrilled!

Her Royal Highness says thanks for the good wishes lol  We’re all so glad to keep her around - she’s a real card

We got some amazing news this week - Mom is officially in remission! She’ll be taking a month off to regain her strength, since the chemo did a real number on her, then doing some maintenance, since there’s no official cure for her type of cancer, but with her numbers and how quick they got her in remission, things

A text would be a good idea. Not sure what you said when you cancelled, but you can just explain that your husband wasn’t feeling well and you really didn’t want to go to dinner without him. (Not a lie, either!) And baked goods are always a great apology/neighbor-bond strengthener, so go for it! As far as your husband
