Just in time for Christmas... All jokes aside, this one looks intriguing. Judas is a interesting interpretation of one of the most - if not the most - reviled individuals in the Bible. From an interview with the creator/writer of the mini-series, Jeff Loveless:
I’m buying just one today. Scales & Scoundrels is a very light-hearted story. Far from all the dark shit I tend to read. This is issue 4. I guess it’s time for another story of my time as a comic book clerk.
This one looks like my cat Bruja. And the story is not too shaby. I’m also looking forward to Sword of Ages cuz it’s written and drawn by none other than Locke & Key’s Sir Gabriel Rodriguez, thank you very much. I’m really interested to see his skill at doing both.
My curiosity is definitely peaked by Imaginery Fiends. Part of its premise is based on the real life true crime story about two girls who attempted to savagely kill a friend in order to appease the Slender Man. The incident brought to the light an aspect of the life of pre-teens and what goes on in that secret world. …
Just one whole comic this week. So, I have another story from my many adventures as a comic book store clerk to share with you all.
It’s time to find some new stories and this week I’m plopping my money down on 2 from Image - cuz they actually put out some good shit - and I like variety. One deals in the supernatural and the other in sci-fi. Good enough for me.
Nothing for this week I just dig this cover. And since there’s nothing for the week I’ll just reach into my bag of stories from the time I was a clerk at a comic book shop in the 90s to share with you all.
Angelic is the story of a flying, talking monkey hybrid named Qora. She lives in a place where most are subservient to a religious few and worship an unfair god. She goes around questioning everything is punished with more chores for it. She will be a bride in a prearranged marriage that to a male priest named Alfer.…
I’ve read the previews and seen some of the pages for Maestros and I’m reminded of Geoff Darrow’s work. This looks gorgeous and the story has a vibrant pop to it, so I’m in.
I like this cover. I like the writer. I like the plot. So, Imma buy me this comic.
Some creators don’t get the readership they deserve. Scott McCloud is well known for his seminal graphic novel Understanding Comics. He followed this book up with Making Comics and Reinventing Comics. But as the creator/writer/artist of Zot! and now The Sculptor, I don’t ever hear people talk about him. True, he gets…
In The Shed
Well, here’s something that was expected. Spike TV has cancelled The Mist after its first season. Poor ratings out of the starting gate never improved on this different take of the Stephen King novella by the same name which was adapted to film prior to this series.
With few comics on my list this week, I’ll dig into my bag of stories as a comic book store clerk to regale you kids with.
Actor K.J. Apa who plays Archie in the CW’s Riverdale was in a car wreck last week after a long 16 hour day on-set outside Vancouver, Canada.
I think its great when you can take scripture and invert it to something dark. This week its a double shot of Cullen Bunn for me (I guess I’m a fan). With this from After Shock Comics and another from Boom! Studios. In other news, I think I’ll be going to see IT for a second time since I like it - see what I did there…
Harrow County is without a doubt one of the best horror comics out there. Hell, one of the best comics period! I look forward to each issue’s release like its my own personal little Christmas.
The vessel The Orville from the new series The Orville staring whatshisname, looks like a bottle opener to me. Like if you could crack open a few cold ones at the same time with this... thing. Too bad I can’t make some scratch out of
my this idea.
Contrary to popular belief, catnip does NOT have the same ecstatic effect on all cats alike. I had one cat who seemed to orgasm every time I fed her this stuff. At times, I ended giving her less because of the intense reaction. Another cat of mine did not react to the stuff at all. Her bowel movements garnered a…
Its funny but I thought I would’ve dropped this one by now, yet its still worth the read. I don’t think any other comic that I can remember has done so much by avoiding the main story for so long.
