This week I’ll do something a little different since I’m only picking up ONE COMIC. In fact, I’ll probably do more of this whenever there’s room - like this week - so as to keep this little blog going.
I’ve been waiting for this one for some time. Like the Hernandez Bros. with their comic Love & Rockets, I truly admire Matt Wagner for the continued effort to stay with the one story throughout the decades. I can’t wait to dig into this one.
It’s that time of the week again and this time I have a few more picks than in recent weeks. So, let’s get to it!
My picks for this week are slim. I’m still waiting on My Friend Dahmer GN to arrive at home. I thought I’d have it in my hands since last week but, oh well. World Reader has been a fun story. Issue number 5 is out this week and I can’t wait to dig into it.
There’s much talk of what the future of comics will be. A few well written articles are presented here by Alliterator. Who knows what will happen. But what the hell, I read comics and you do, too.
Update: 12:52 p.m. PST. The death of Chris Cornell has been ruled a suicide by hanging, the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s Office said in a statement on Thursday.
5/4/17 I’ve been meaning to do a small write for Rogue One after my humble request was answered but time keeps on slippin’-slippin’-slippin’ into the future. In any case, today is as good a day as it gets so...
The show about a failing business trying to create a market for super hero proof products has been dropped by NBC’s Tuesday night line up and from any night’s line up for that matter. While there’s no official word on its cancellation, that pretty much seems assured.
A thought somehow made into the emptiness in my skull and had me wondering what ever happened to some people I used to see around here at Odeck. (Also, because I’m bored.) I mean, people are entitled to do as they wish. Move on to bigger and better things. Life takes them to unexpected places. Or they simply got bored…
This is not a 4:20 prank.
So the teaser is out and after watching it I have to say I’m super psyched about TLJ! I’m really digging the vibe from Luke who has come to the realization that the Force might not be the way.
A true master of comic book art, Bernie was the one who created the Swamp Thing along with writer Len Wein.
In the opening sequence of Curse of the Man Who Sees UFOS, Christo Roppolo leads the film maker to a part of a local golf course where he filmed what he saw one night in the sky. He believes the UFO caused a sudden, intense urge to relieve himself and with no restroom in sight and running out of time, he races to a…
Anna has the perfect life. She is from a prominent family and has just received a marriage proposal at a party with all of society on hand. But it’s all turned upside down when a 10-year-old boy walks into her life and pronounces, “It’s me, Sean.” As in her late husband.
One thing that I’m huge fan of is cover songs. People tend to look down on this kind of musical expression because... I don’t really know why other than hearing the tired criticism of “Why play somebody else’s music when you can create your own?” My answer is because somebody else’s music moves another to play it. I…
2/8/2017 For the third straight week Split has topped the box office. During the Super Bowl weekend, no less. Vulture reports that the M. Night’s thriller bested Rings which in all honesty didn’t look good. Regardless, this is a win for Split.
This is a big FUCK. YES. Unbreakable is Shyamalan’s best movie. And with the ending of the movie being left open ended, there was always hope that part 2 would happen. Sooner or later. And it turned out to be way later.
This is another take on a Phil Noto variant for Ms. Marvel. The original has the picture of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel from the Civil War II storyline which he altered himself, but after the last week of attacks on brown people by Orange Face, this version is The Statement of the Week.
Sir John Hurt, has died aged 77 after battling cancer. The actor had recently battled pancreatic cancer but in October 2015 was given the all clear.
Independant comics publishers don’t get a lot of love, so I thought I’d share some good stuff. While I’m not the biggest comics reader these, I do have my list (which is very short) that I cannot go with out. But here are some new stories from a publisher I’m hearing more and more about. Here’s the AfterShock site if…
