@Billy: Yes, I agree it's an improvement on Android. Just don't see why it's a big bullet-point "advantage" over how it's done with iOS. Certainly welcome though.

Anyone else confused as to how buying something from the web on your PC, then having it start downloading on your tablet, is so much better than just downloading it on the tablet in the first place? I mean App discovery shouldn't be much worse in the App Store/Market app than their web version.

@geolemon: "Besides the ports ands slots, it seems like an Android tablet would last longer " If the tablet update schedule is anything like Android phone schedule, you'd be right. Hard to slow a device down with a new OS when it never gets one in the first place ;)

@FooFighting: I don't think they would run on a device that wasn't authorized with your iTunes account....

@UgoBogdan: Yeah, I think their earlier design what more like what you described- but they decided to change it so it could fit devices "universally". Just imagine if the iPhone 5 is *slightly* different shaped ;) Plus that design can also be used with non-iPhone handsets, you'd just need different "ears" to hold it.

@OreoExplosion: Right, i know what you meant- I'm just saying there aren't any controllers at all really :) I'd like to see one released just so there's even a chance devs could rally around it. (Best hope is obviously the iControlpad).

@UgoBogdan: Ask the guys working on iControlPad (.com). Sounds like they're pretty close to release.

@OreoExplosion: They don't really have to sanction one, someone just has to *release* one. I'm going to try the "analog stick" nubs from Ten One to see how much of an improvement they offer...

@badasscat: You forgot to preface "to some people..."

The issue is that the company is diverting fewer resources to the phone you just bought. Since it's up to the carrier to provide the update, that's a problem. With PCs, it's all Microsoft- a stock Windows 7 DVD will install on just about any PC and can be done in a "supported" way without hacks. You can't exactly

@Adam: They're very similar to the gestures on the trackpad in Mac OS X. Maybe they "stole that from WebOS" too, but just wondering if you drew the same comparison ;)

@chriskennard: But unlike the iOS App store, any Mac developer can still host a demo version on their own site. Shouldn't that be enough?

@virgilstar: Some would say that the amount in milk is far below what the average person needs. Canada recently raised their RDA to 1000 I.U. per day (for most adults). That would 10 glasses of fortified milk per day - more than most people would bother with. And then there are those of us who don't or can't drink

@maythetechbewithyou: Except it does work on older devices, though it's not as easy. But Apple tells you how to do it (you have to set it up initially on a current device).

@WhiskeyTab: Aren't sending messages, sounds, and wiping the device part of Find My iPhone? Thus making it not "useless"?

@Odin: Yes, I understand Android is designed to support different resolutions. But we're really talking here about different touchscreen sizes. For example, a remote control app designed to display a 4 x 4 grid of buttons (because that's all that can practically be used on a 4" phone) isn't going to magically show

@Odin: Even if the OS is "suitable" for tablets (Google's opinion be damned), the available apps most certainly are not. And to get developers behind these things there are going to have to be a hell of a lot of them sold pretty quickly. Unless you really literally want "blown up" phone apps on your tablet.

@Vidit: Actually Apple wrote the Maps app for iOS with Google's API/help. Now why *they* won't update it is even more strange :) (of course maybe Google doesn't give Apple access to certain Google-only Maps APIs or something...)

@Acemonster: Yes. I have an old iPhone 3G with no phone service that i occasionally use as a "spare GPS" (so it doesn't run down my main phone - if im on a trip in someone else's car, etc).

@Rein Sangeki: it is much smoother and responsive scrolling around the map on iOS though :)
