Drives with comparable read speeds are available for $249 and up, many around $299. Of course Sony states that a read speed of 5500 is needed, and most of those are at $299 and up. It’s been shown that slower drives work just fine, for now.

A quick look on Amazon has 2TB PCIe 4.0 sticks at around $350. Presumably this is more comparable to Samsung than a cheaper brand and theirs has a MSRP of $429.99 though it sells for less. So pricing seems to fit the market with a bit of markup but the downside of this is that places like Amazon tend to push prices…
