Even as a car person, I legitimately can’t discern the various Subaru models.  They literally all look the same to me.  It’s as bad as trying to tell an A4 from an A6

And I don’t think they are doing great in Europe. They got presense when they made rallycars for the streets and again gained traction when they started doing diesels. However these days they do not have anything competitive, all they have are way too thirsty (which also bumps up the prices in many places due co2

It’s mind boggling that they couldn’t even make a hybrid version of the Outback. That should be a no-brainer. Especially with their parent company Toyota having all the know-how and parts bin to make hybrids. Even frigging Jeep Wrangler has a PHEV version. Even Mazda- the last holdout, has a PHEV CX-90.

They may have known what they were doing at some point, but they peaked 10-15 years ago, and have been making bland, oversized blobs just like everyone else ever since.

Correction: Subaru knew it could pander to people’s sense of “I’m a rugged individual”, or their feelings of “I don’t really care what I drive, as long as it’s practical and AWD”, or their satisfaction that a PZEV badge on the back means it’s environmentally friendly even with thoroughly mediocre fuel economy.

I mean it is actually a legit competitor and the two cars are very frequently cross-shopped, so yes.

There’s a few things going on here. Mopar keeps it in production for a few specific reasons, which one is to keep an economical option for fleet buyers or even as a full-size option in the mid-size price range of the its competition.

Eh. I guess I’m feeling punchy about someone needing to spend $40,000 because they are bored.

This is not an easy a question as people make it out to be. Yes the police don’t need to chase someone down over a traffic stop. Most jurisdictions have put guidelines in place to restrict their use (as they should in my opinion). However, what if police never chased, as seems to be the suggestion by some here.  More

A few suggestions: A Maverick Platinum with towing would be in the upper 30s, have a winter package, very good power, and a ton of utility.  The upper tiers seem easier to find than a base hybrid.  I think the rebates would get a Model Y, that unlike the Ionic and (which Jalopnik reflexively supplicates to) can  be

This is the Rob from East Lansing. I posed this question a while ago and have since sold the Subaru and bought a new car. I ended up going with a 2020 Volvo V90 R-Design w/ Polestar. Yes, the lowered height and low profile tires are a little rough in Michigan, but I love getting in this car every day!

Mazda3 Hatch 2.5 Turbo AWD

Finally?  Do y’all not see them all the time in the US?  I see more Crosstreks’ in Canada than regular Impreza’s these days.  I just assumed it was doing really well.

that’s the funny thing. 150hp in an impreza nobody bats an eye, put a lift kit on it and everyone loses their minds.

Important to remember that the Impreza is basically the same exact car as the Crosstrek.

Remind me why one would get this at $23,645 and not the Impreza, which is the same car but starts at $20,295 for the hatch?

I looked it up the ‘13 optima hybrid has a range of 619 miles.  Already a better deal.

Sex Worker! They’re called Sex Workers now.

Jokes aside, I believe the Bolt had " "hilltop reserve" where it would only charge to some set percent at home so if you had a large hill to start your drive it would gather energy to top off on the way down. I’m sure Tesla has same capability but thought it was a specific feature on the Bolt.

I haven’t got any big rocks. Will dead hookers do?
