I have some hope given that Le Guin has a consulting role in this one.

I’m still waiting for a good Earthsea adaptation
Ursula K. LeGuin has addressed this directly, namely that producers don’t want to make movies about what her books are about, they want to borrow SOME of the ideas and concepts without actually taking on the subjects or dealing with the worlds.
For me it was dr. what’s his face and walrus man that brought me so much joy, when they bump into the leads on Jedah.
Fun part - per his Facebook page, Angus MacInnes (Gold Leader) got to go to the London premiere and surprise people in person after the cameo.
i found tarkin to be entirely and amazingly acceptable to the point of wtfing over and over in his scenes, but leia to be somewhat dollish. neither took anything away from my enjoyment of this spectacular film.
That sounds like a recommendation to me...
For anyone who wants to say something bad about Fifth Element:
The guy has the wherewithal to film in landscape, in a life threatening situation, and it gets posted in vertical.
It’s amazing that we’re capable of transmitting high quality pictures from a different planet, but I’m still astonished by how unreliable my Comcast internet service is.
At some point in the future, someone is going to issue a new form of ID, and it will be known in popular cultre as the Multipass. This movie one long cultural meme.
You’re missing my point—which is my fault. These are some of my favorite movies. I love them for both the good and the bad parts. And I'd watch every single one of them a dozen more times. They're all fun in their own ways!
The Fifth Element is side by side with Blade Runner in my book. I will defend it to the ends of the Earth as one of the best movies ever made.
For a film that invests in camp as ferociously as The Fifth Element, judgments of quality are almost beside the point. The costumes are weird and great. The production design is weird and great. Milla Jovovich is delightful. Bruce Willis stumbles around in a backless crossing-guard’s outfit. And the story wallows in…
Have you ever watched Barbarella and The Fifth Element back to back? It’s one of the best double features.
I’d call it the second-best movie inspired by Moebius that’s been made yet.
The Fifth element is a MASTERPIECE.
@subterfunk: Absolutely. The Ancients loved color.
@NerD:blogOtaku: Why would you say this? We're you not entertained? WE'RE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?
