Yeap, canti’s would be a problem. The Schwinn also has 26" wheels, smaller than 650b’s, so a 650b conversion would reduce tire clearance (but might offer more supple tire options).

True, but the era of bikes Raph is looking at could be a good 700c to 650b conversion candidate to get the clearance needed. Which one’s do you have? I have the previous gen Marathon Supremes on my Cross Check and they are alright. Not as supple with its flat resistance, but they were great on Pittsburgh’s twisty downhills.
