Yep. I find her origins one of the least interesting. And actually one of the more convoluted one. I don’t think it would help or hurt the movie character. I think as long as it’s anything “space/alien related”, it doesn’t matter.

Based on memory, the drugs originally gave them the powers when they were introduced in the early 80s, then they were revealed to be mutants about 5 years ago (but that may have already changed).

It’s why I compared them to Cyborg; he also was an early-80s character who’s origin changed in the last 5 or 6 years.
