NFL kickers can make FGs from 50+ yards, I think there is a definite advantage to forcing them to reach the end-zone or else, rather than play for overtime.
If Eli takes a knee, Dallas has to score a touchdown in with 50 seconds and no time outs, that’s pretty good situation for any (above-average) defense.

I don’t know what they think with the bullpen, MW seems to pitch to matchups completely arbritarily, and gives the pitchers way to much rope-if your job is to get 1-3 outs, you don’t get multiple batters to “get into a groove”.
