That wasn’t a dude with a gun, it was

I don’t think it’s “secret-identity” based in the movie (since nobody in the MCU except Spiderman really has a secret identity), and more working for (or being monitored by) the government.

Yeah... and the underdog/underground movement actually makes a better story.

I was just thinking about the comics where the teams were pretty even, and actually Cap had the “heavy hitters” (Spidey, Luke Cage, Black Panther, Human Torch, 5-6 X-Men) and Tony had clones and villians.

I think the only team surprise is that Black Widow wouldnt side with Cap.

Cap really looks outmatched here. Team Stark has 2 Iron Man suits and a superpowered Robot.
Cap has dude with bow and arrow...dude with wings...dude with gun...girl with gun.

That is an unfortunate combination of Steve Buscemi eyes, and stroke face.

The eyes make me think Simpsons

I completely agree. You are an asshole.

More like Drive by Essays, ammiright?

I’m hoping to see a more in depth look at these titles at a later date on this website.
I’m really having trouble deciding on my pull list.

I’m surprised with this, mostly just because Frank Miller has been nothing but terrible for the last 20 years.

But DC is determined to squeeze every dime they can out of their properites. Be on the lookout next year for “After Before Watchmen”.

So, in summary:
good movies did well.
mediocre/bad movies did well if they had Dinosaurs (US), or robots (China).
When kids are out of school, you can animate anything and it will make a trillion dollars.

I think Thor is way underrated.
It really nailed the “fish out of water” element of a Norse god on Earth in a way that was fun and original. The Shakesperian undertones were great, and Portman was pretty much the only weak aspect of the movie.

They were shooting/hoping/anticipating for $2B.
So whereas it made a crap-ton on money, it made much less than projections.

I hope so. The combination of teenage and vampires makes me worried Marvel/Disney is trying to get into the Twilight/Vampire Diaries market

I don’t buy the Downey arguement, because story-wise the Iron Man suit does all the work.
I can believe that a 50 year old businessman can essentially drive a car.

Ok. I half-concede my point.
I was thinking in the overall theme of the article— that trying to fit an origin in a movie is often detrimental in tv remakes (or in unecessary in Fantastic Four’s case). The success of the DD origin works because it’s not a movie, and with the same writers/actors would have probably been

Ooh, you had me until you listed “Bad Boys” as an example of good anything.

And the depth and pace of storytelling for 13 hour and 2 hour mediums are totally the same.

I prefer Scarlet Johanson as Black Widow.
