I think that’s exactly what he means (and thank you for providing the details. I knew it involved a football player, and that there wasn’t a pre-existing relationship at play, but that was about it.)

That seems to me like a gross mischaracterization of what I’ve read of hers over the years, and also with respect to the other article I think you were referencing in your original post.

So, because she had a reasonable, likely correct take on one situation, your assumption is that she lacks the ability to provide a different, equally nuanced take if a different situation calls for it?

And that makes it, what?  Newsworthy?  Enough that he shouldn’t go out in public?

Yes, of course, but again, what’s the point? This story isn’t framed as “Call attention to pervasive racism in our society.” It’s framed as “How dare people who use such words at home come out in public to a football match!” Which is ridiculous.

Because... why?

This... shouldn’t be a story. I have abundant experience with three year-olds, and even the brightest ones have absolutely no idea what they’re saying. So take at face value that the father “attempted to scold the child”.  The remaining story is that someone who uses ethnic slurs at home took a child to a Palace match.

The Slowest Two Minutes In Sports

One of my co-workers made such a loud noise when they scored that the guy two offices down came to check and make sure he was okay.

Because he’s obviously suggesting that Spurs got more time than they were entitled to, which isn’t true... which makes it misleading.

He’s suggesting that Spurs got more time than they were entitled to.  Otherwise it’s not necessary to say “of a schedule five minutes.”  Just say that it was the sixth minute of stoppage time, which is accurate and true.

“In the sixth minute of a scheduled five minutes of stoppage time” is so misleading that it has to just be trolling.  The ball literally went into the net at 5:01, and that was after Onana was booked for time-wasting, having run nearly a minute off the clock.

You are very correct, this has been fixed.

omg how did i never know that Francesa coached at Notre Dame?

Don’t forget about the shame brought to belts everywhere by Adrian Peterson and Tyreek Hill.

Also not to be forgotten: the Upright Citizens’ Brigade version, “Showgirls: The Best Movie Ever Made. Ever!

Jimmy,

So... what is it with the guys who show up outside Barclays Center night after night with replica championship belts slung over their shoulders?  Someone please explain this cultural phenomenon for the benefit of the oldsters in the audience.  Thanks in advance.
