It kinda goes without saying that the N63 V8 is a pile of junk. Even in the later revisions they’re super troublesome, BMW never quite fixed them fully. Definitely stick with the N55 turbo 6 in the F10, the 535i is the sweet spot, whereas the 528i with the 4-cylinder N20 is fairly underpowered and also needs timing

I agree 100%. The exception of course, is once the cars are heavily depreciated and the M versions have skyrocketed in value. Like these days when an E39 M5 is like $15k - $20k on average, an E39 540i/6 is actually a pretty good deal at like $8k. Back when they were only a few thousand apart it was worth spending the

Mmm yeah, the E60 545i was kind of a low point for the 5-series. The straight-6 engine models (525i/528i/530i) fared a bit better but they were still not immune to the early iDrive issues and other maddening electrical nonsense.

SUV “coupes” are still the dumbest thing ever. The whole point of an SUV is to have cargo space and head room for passengers, and these stupid SUV “coupes” throw all of that out the window. Hell, car-based unibody SUV’s are poser stuff anyways, SUV’s need to go back to being body-on-frame with proper transfer cases

Mmm yes, I remember the last time I was in Russia around 2005 or so, one of the big train stations in Moscow still had squat toilets, and I had to actually pay money to use them! The best part is that you could see where people had leaned over too far forward and sprayed all over the wall... lovely.

I agree, keep your M5 for as long as you can! I had a 2000 M5 that was a Dinan S1 and I sold it for way too little money back in like 2016 because they weren’t worth as much back then... no way I can buy another M5 like that for $7k haha. Same with all the E36 M3's, I’ve owned, I feel like such an idiot for selling my

Funnily enough I have an E39 M5 in the shop right now, getting timing chain guides. I also have four E36 M3's here, two Z3 M-Coupes, an E24 M6, and two E31's (840ci and 850i/6). No shortage of cool stuff.

That’s what I did here in Phoenix because I was annoyed at the lack of meets that were specifically oriented towards older BMW’s. All the usual BMW meets are overrun with rich people and their new M cars + kids with pop tunes on their 335i’s, neither of which I care for. My shop has a huge parking lot that’s

This is a good post. I love seeing little engines used for household stuff, plus I have fond memories of nitro engines in the model airplanes I used to fly with my dad like 20 years ago.

That would certainly get some of the more law-abiding individuals out of doing it on the streets, but for a lot of these degenerates, it’s specifically about being a nuisance on public roads and blocking traffic, they get a rush from that.

Aside from that, the environmental benefits of EV-swapping something that’s only gonna get driven occasionally is pretty low. Easier to just swap in a more modern ICE drivetrain.

And people ask me why I’ve only been buying OBDI cars in the last few years, lol.

The sad thing is for how prominent the garage is in these houses, it’s usually a fairly useless garage for anything other than parking two cars. There’s never any storage or space for a workbench, so if you want to actually do things in that garage you either have to move one car out or be working on top of two cars.

Meh, I haven’t paid over $3200 for a used car in years. Granted, I generally stick to 30 year old BMW’s, so kinda niche.

So uhh, how would they implement this? My BMW is almost 30 years old and is OBDI, with not even a hint of Canbus. It’s got a cable throttle, no stability control, and it doesn’t even have ABS. Even in more modern cars it seems like a logistical nightmare to implement.

These weather-related disasters are starting to sound an awful lot like the ones from The Day After Tomorrow, and I really don’t like that.

Exactly. That and it seems like we as the consumers are forced to do 100% of the “saving the environment” while corporations and shipping giants still get to pollute freely.

It does, but then I drive it harder, so the mpg ends up being roughly the same... I log every single fuel-up to calculate my mpg.

“That’s because they aren’t always driven in 100+ degree weather”

This article is phrased so negatively... so there’s a country that’s already using an alternative fuel that’s more emissions-friendly than gasoline, why are you mad at them for not wanting to go all-in on EV’s? How much is Tesla paying y’all?
