He's also 70 freaking years old! By the end of his term Obama looked like he'd aged twenty years. Trump's going to be a cadaver well before then at this rate.

And he's all about those large industrial projects in the Shire! He's a job-creator!

I know you're joking, but it's worth noting he doesn't even drink, exactly the same as Bush. This "have a beer with" meme is so fucking dumb because it keeps being applied to people who would be exactly the worst people to do it with.

Yeah, "Criminal" basically does everything that "Sin City" tried to do but with way more class, engaging plots, believable-yet-tasty dialogue and characterization that actually made some damn sense.

Hey now, Jeruselum is a legit masterpiece.

Yes! As a huge fan of JG Ballard I found the movie incredibly frustrating. All the elements were there. The actors were great, the design and camerawork and music were awesome, but it seems like they just completely did not understand what Ballard was trying to say with High-Rise and made it this weird

You can read the formal accusations here if you like:

Director's fees. Easily several million a pop, plus back end points on stuff like Hellboy and Blade 2.

I kind of like that more. Like they try to get him to talk but he just hammers the collection like a man possessed, as I would too.

Yeah, nah. This movie was entertaining, sure, but poorly structured and there were so many elements that needlessly crossed the line from "mysterious" to "confusing". It's not a patch on Memories of Murder and it also seemed to pretty openly flirt with anti-Japanese sentiment that would be quite shocking if played in

I'm not necessarily agreeing with Kurrodo here, but that is not what he said at all.

Nah, sorry this just did not work for me at all.

I fucking hate The Weeds and Vox in general. Matt Yglesias is like a living breathing one-stop-shop for all the problems I have with smug liberal assholes personified. As a leftist, the only good thing I took from the Trump election was the knowledge that it would shatter that moron's world.

Your description of that one episode already made me laugh. Listening to this immediately.

Also Black Panther Fred Hampton filled me with an incredible rage I've not felt since their Iraq War episode. Honestly, as a non-American, The Dollop has been a real help in illuminating for me just how fucked up the entire race situation is in the USA.

I haven't listened to that one yet, but your recommendation has piqued my interest. Honestly I haven't been the biggest fan of Gladwell's stuff, but I'm willing to give his podcast a shot if someone as prestigious as CM is a fan. Any episodes you would particularly recommend?

Tony and the Shotgun, oh man, such an amazing story. The fact his friends kept calling him at home. Gareth was on fire that episode too.

YES. Just the most insane stories Dave manages to find about that game. There are also some legitimate "how is this not a movie yet" stories they consistently manage to hit on which are just flat-out incredible, such as "An American Pugilist in London".

Oh really, he has a baby? Isn't a big line of his how humans should stop reproducing? THAT'S gonna be awkward.

They have my eternal devotion for "The Rube" reducing me to tears of laughter for a solid hour. Even at their worst, at least I'm learning something and at their best I forget to breathe. Dave Anthony also has a fabulous laugh.
