I know this is a pop culture site, but seriously, there are scores and scores of interesting podcasts out there that will expand your horizons that aren't just clueless morons chuckling together or endless masturbatory pop culture or liberal politics shows.

Dramatization. May not have happened.

In my experience, Los Angeles is utterly stacked with people like this. It makes every conversation a kind of mental game of poker, which I find exceedingly exhausting.

I like subtle ones like this.

So far this August I have read:

The Story Of Erica is probably the scariest thing I saw as a kid. Dahl masterfully pokes at that vague, uneasy feeling kids begin to develop about ageing and death, mixed in with the creepiness of old paintings and ALSO plugging directly into the common childhood nightmares of disappearing and being unable to

Really glad that the "myth of progress" meme is slowly gaining traction, probably too late to actually stop what's coming, but perhaps enough to give people a bit of a heads up before we completely consume ourselves into oblivion.

This game is gorgeous, but also made me really sad as I realised it's almost an elegy for the oceans. The scale of ecological collapse currently underway means that a lot of the species encountered in the game will soon cease to exist beyond the halls of memory.

"My Aunt lives in Scotland, she says it's quite nice."

Nope, I worked on the movie in post. They tried a certain shade during shooting but it didn't look right, so they ended up digitally re-colouring her. Can't speak to whatever bts stuff they showed but I can tell you that the original shade they went with was altered for a very good reason.

Actually, she was slathered in green makeup, but it looked terrible, so they had to alter it digitally.

There's nothing more egotistical than the idea that your generation is the one that will witness the apocalypse. I imagine humanity will go extinct sometime in the next billion years, maybe sooner, maybe later, but either way, we'll go on for a good long time to come. Likely with a significantly reduced population
