I concur, but I think it (and also "47 Meters Down") could have benefited by jettisoning the protagonist's backstory. Take a cue from "All Is Lost": All you need is a girl, a shark, and a conflict.

Richard Curtis and Cameron Crowe both seem to be without an ounce of cynicism or irony, which makes them wonderful human beings but prone to creating the most incompatible couples in movie history.
Although I don't disagree with the criticism of the "50 First Dates" ending, I do like that it's an anomaly compared to the endings of most other Adam Sandler movies. (Seriously, fuck you, "Click".) The fact that it doesn't have some cop-out ending where she's cured of her memory condition is pretty impressive.
