She could be exaggerating with good intentions, to bring attention to the issue of whaitewashing. I think it’s always a mistake to lie/misrepresent intentionally, even in a good cause.

Cho did have an option. If Cho didn’t want to play the role of educator, she could have said that in her first reply to Swinton. Instead, she engaged, and then misrepresented the conversation. She took the low road.
That’s how Miss Marple solved all those crimes.
Cumberbatch can certainly do comedy. I recommend “Cabin Pressure,” a BBC radio series available on Audible, in which he plays the captain of a one-airplane airline teetering on the edge of bankruptcy. There are four characters, but he and his co-pilot are the focus and it’s pretty funny.
Weld was governor of MA, which has a long tradition of electing relatively sane Republicans in an otherwise heavily Democratic state. He wasn’t too bad.
I’m sorry for your loss.
There’s a lot of testosterone in the show, very traditional depiction of masculinity. So Tyson fits in with that, I suppose - a big strong man who can defeat his enemies with violence. That’s all I can think of.
Started watching it tonight and overall really liked it. The one thing that rubbed me the wrong way was a couple of lines extolling Mike Tyson. The show mentions a lot of great Black leaders and artists, but he’s not one of them.
I’m with you on NYDJ, and Rack is the place to get them.
It’s just a funny account. I like the bird POV, it’s non-grammatical in a charming way (to me).
I wanted the Beatles’ “In My Life.” I liked that it refererred to “friends and lovers that went before” bu also said “I love you more.” Plus, it’s short.
My kids were all about Star Blazers - still remember that song!
The costumes!
Armpit hair: gone. Arm hair: multiplying.
It’s a process, for sure. The hot flashes can last for a long time - years. For me, the transition from periods to no periods was pretty fast - maybe 5 months or so. Like you, I had very heavy periods during this time.
Implores is politer, but I think the writer meant impels and mixed it up with impedes. Social pressure impels (drives) us to behave in certain ways.
Impels
I embarrassed my son on a visit to him at art school. He was taking us around the cool contemporary art galleries. One piece was some dirty green carpet with a square cut out of it, said square being filled with a perfectly smooth white powder. It looked so much like fresh snow that I put my foot on it to leave a…
I’m seeing a big issue with loss of vocabulary. I don’t care if language evolves, but I hate to see us losing all these words!!!!!!
Yes, I think the CCC was a great thing and could still work today.
