Pretty much. This is pretty much why I’m not mad like others (I’m Asian) about the casting of Iron Fist and Ghost in the Shell.

Scarlett Jo’s made a name for herself the past twenty years and has earned the respect and following (along with the potential viewers/fans she has, which equal money) that she has. The best

Isn’t that just the latest evolution of a very old Hollywood principle that the bigger star gets the role, not the better actor? All that has changed are the metrics used to measure star power. It used to be “how many covers of entertainment magazines were you on?” now its “how many Twitter followers do you have?” But

Today I Didn’t Learn: who Clay Travis is.

It’s actually pretty simple. Taiwan is an independent nation, whether China recognizes it or not. It’s simply required to not mention Taiwan as independent while speaking with China. The situation is very akin to not mentioning to a homophobic father that his son is, in fact, gay. Everyone else can know it and his

Gawd, this game looks so pretty.

The people who claim HS is p2w crack me up.

I never bought anything inside the game and still manage to compete.

I’m ok with this. Fuck people who stream snipe.

I would posit that the CoD crowd is not what one would call accepting and tolerant if voice chat is anything to go by.

Fair enough.. seriously who would kink shame a foot fetish? Are these people from the vatican or somewhere if you show an ankle its simply too much? Its one of the few fetishes I never understood too well buts its as tame as all hell.

“Trust me. Do you know why he challenged you to a duel? ‘Cause you could beat the s— out of him.”

They likely won’t, Fantasy Strike is actually a tabletop game that Sirlin developed. This is just an offshoot of that.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with what he says. That specific chapter that everyone quotes is basically an argument against the mentality that certain things are “off limits” when it comes to playing the game because they’re “cheap” or “unfair”. Because at the end of the day, what is “cheap” simply ends up being

I don’t know too much about the author specifically, and I understand your concerns around the terminology that he uses, but as someone who plays a lot of competitive games (and cooperative games too!) I find it hard to argue with the premise of the original article.

I love this. While i don’t think there is anything wrong with what folks call “techs” per se, often, mastering the techs becomes an absolute baseline skill to compete, and understandably, communities come to overemphasize them as a result. Not only does this raise the skill floor (which people often confuse for

Ah, I can totally see that. Knew plenty of people like that in my MTG days. I’d be curious to know how Sirlin views those people as I do believe he meant his ‘manifesto’ to be for a more serious competitive level, I highly doubt he meant for situations like that. This is the same guy that was trying to put together a

Plus, he popularized the term “scrub,”

For me I’ve never liked how non intuitive many of the mechanics of fighting games are. Just the basics of how the moves work and how to counter or take advantage of different moves is rarely explained.

I’m a filthy casual when it comes to fighting games, but for me the issue with a lot of them isn’t too many inputs, it’s unintuitive inputs. A button being punch on one character and kick on another, for example; or button sequences that need to be memorised for special moves.

Now I am legitimately excited, as a player of the physical Yomi Card game, I enjoy the Fantasy Stike universe and as long as I can play as Captain Zane, Max Gieger (in one of the screens) and Lum, I’ll be happy. Considering how I don’t really have the interest to learn 20 movesets to get good at fighting games these
