My research shows it was not slower around a track. The 2009 CTS-V was over second a lap faster than a 2013 M5 around VIR. Doesn’t look like they lapped an E60 M5, but they did run a M6 of that generation (2006.) It was over 6 seconds slower than the same vintage Caddy.

The CTS-V from 8(!) years ago had the same amount of torque.

But 7 inch touch screen!!!
