I used to assistant manage a fleet at a prior job. We got the Caliber in for testing. Everyone who drove it hated it. I drove it for 2 weeks and didn’t find a single redeeming quality in that car. It sucked in every way possible. And thats a lot coming from someone whose daily driver at the time was a Volkswagen Fox.

I had a Mazda3 from that era and my girlfriend had a Honda Civic, both absolutely destroyed the Caliber in performance, options, interior quality and reliability... hell, my 98 Geo Prizm (Corolla) had a nicer interior and better performance.
