Does anyone actually think the UK is going to negotiate a new deal with the EU? Maybe I’m wrong here, and please correct me if I’m wrong, but did not the EU pretty much say the door is closed on anymore negotiations beyond the deal Theresa May had reached, which Parliament failed to pass?

I’d wager you’re in a very small minority that actually eat these things for those reasons, and that the vast majority of people simply think they are being healthier.

I suspect people are doing it for the same reasons they do many things like this: Americans are deeply in love with feeling like they are doing something better, even if it isn’t necessarily better at all.

Maybe. I’m not sure what the alcohol solution actually does. If the rats just fall into it and the alcohol immediately knocks them out before they drown, that seems humane(ish?).  If they just straight up fall into and drown in a panic, then no, I suppose it isn’t very humane.

I suppose that depends on how you’re trying to kill them.  If this system is supposed to drown them in alcohol and rat-carcass soup, it definitely seems the best way to achieve that. If this system was intended to electrocute them, decapitate them, or burn them, I’d argue it seems to be failing on all counts.

Why is this a story? Rats are an issue in big cities. The issue needs to be resolved. Resolving the issue of having too many rats means finding a way to have less rats. They can lure them in an drown them, or they can wait for them to get stomped on by people, rolled over by subway trains, etc.
