I can’t imagine any amount will ever be enough to offset how much you seem to love your victimhood.  You seem quite content to let it define you.

Oh, Daniel. I’d pat your head if I could. It’s not my job to teach you how the world works - you aren’t my child.

What is it like to live in a world where everyone is completely and totally separated from their familial financial history, anyway?

I mean, I gave you the most egregiously dumb thing you said - namely that an empire that has been extinct for 1500 years should be paying financial reparations to the descendants of their slaves.

Cheese sandwich. Not a grilled cheese sandwich, mind you, just two slices of untoasted bread with mayo and a single slice of American plastic “cheese product” on it.

Those comparisons belittle what happened in the real concentration camps and insult those that suffered and died in them, erasing their memory, making new death camps more possible.

Anything is debatable, unfortunately. Even starting with the fundamental question as to whether or not reparations are deserved, at its core, the base premise of reparations is that, if someone has been wronged, the right thing is for someone to pay them back somehow.  The problem is arriving at the conclusion as to

What am I supposed to do; just take you at your word that what I said is incredibly dumb? You were too lazy to actually expound on any of that, but you expect your retort to be taken as fact?  Brilliant.

Who is going to be paying the reparations? If it is only going to descendants of slaves, it should only come from descendants of slave owners, yes? Or are you advocating that people that didn’t actually keep slaves should pony up as well? If it is paid through taxes, aren’t people receiving reparations effectively

I don’t know... the fact it is such a ridiculous, stupid, juvenile name is part of why slapping it on the side of this little yellow sub makes it so endearing.  Look at that sub.  Fricking adorable.

He’s right. None of us alive today are responsible, but beyond that, nobody alive today was actually enslaved, nor were their parents, and very likely their grandparents.

I’m sure the concentration camps that weren’t specifically death camps saw their fair share of death. Starvation would have been a big issue in the closing days of the war, as by that time, the Germans probably weren’t overly concerned with feeding prisoners.

Death and indignity are the nature of conquest. Rarely does anyone actually apologize for it. I don’t think the Romans apologized for it, nor the Crusaders, nor the Mongols. We can pretend we’re more evolved in modern times, but I suspect we really aren’t, because conquest still exists, it just exists in different

Not to completely derail this topic, but is there any explanation as to why the camps liberated by US and British forces were concentration camps, and all the camps further east that the Soviets encountered were death camps?

Not exceptional anymore? Bruh, the rumble of the engine could shake the doo-doos straight out your butt. Every time you rev the engine, you’ll crap your pants.

They shouldn’t be ignored at all.

God damned hard working layabouts...

Having played the game Fallout 76, I can tell you the situation in Appalachia is much worse than expected.  Nevermind the healthcare and poverty, I’m talking giant bats spreading scorch plague!

“Weeeeeeell... I say now, I say... I’m supposin’ us Republicans could help them there poor people with their little healthcare there now... but then who among us, I say WHO, would think if’n all those poor little dollar bills are bein’ spent RESPONSIBLY now here now y’all?” ~Generic Foghorn Leghorn Republican Nonsense

Personally, I find that people should be able to eat and drink their food however they enjoy it. If they want a steak well-done, who cares if a chef feels they shouldn’t eat it that way?  If they want a glass frosty, give them the frosty glass.  They are the ones paying, after all.
