Diddy kong vs diddy kong? What are you talking about lol. Everyone plays different characters.

wow that’s so interesting, thank you for sharing.

That’s not how it works. If you haven’t gone to tournaments and experienced different styles of play, it’s practically impossible to beat a top level player. You need to keep up with everything the community figures out about the game, or you’ll fall behind.

If you’re okay with switching to a new version of the game, it seems to me like you didn’t love the game to begin with. Our community loves melee to death. Why would we ever need a newer version of it to compete in?

Why even try to contribute to the disussion when it’s obvious you have no idea what you’re talking about? :)

The top 8 of this tournament featured: fox, falco, sheik, marth, pikachu, jigglypuff and peach. Peach ended up winning. It just happens that highlights of the game often include fox and/or falco because they are the two fastest and most “fun” characters in the game.

Maybe the most anime thing about this whole thing is that both mango and armada, the two all time greats of this game, have made it to grand finals at all four genesis events. In 2009, 2011, 2016 and 2017 they showed up as the two best players in the world. Incredilble.

Any super smash brothers melee player will also tell you that someone who isn’t into melee has to take a jab at it’s players literally every time the game is mentioned anywhere.

it has 4 modifier buttons (2 for x, 2 for y) that put you at around 1/4, 2/4 and 3/4 of the direction you’re holding! (for the 3/4 on you push both buttons)

There are 4 directional button and 4 modifiers. 2 modifiers for x and 2 modifiers for y values. Those modifiers add 3 positions along both x and y (pressing button 1, pressing button 2, and pressing both) This gives you acces to like 50 firefox angles, and that’s more than enough. It also gives 100% consistent access

Controller people aren’t at a dissadvantage. The reason people wanted this thing banned isn’t the smashbox itself, it’s the twisting of the rules needed for it to be allowed. This twisting of rules allow mods to the game cube controller to make it just way better than both the smash box and a regular controller.

There are buttons (the “dpad”) that allow you to tilt the stick a little, and a little more, for both up/down and left/right. You can input *very* specific analog stick positions and never miss. This makes some techinques, that are really hard to do with an analog stick, easy. That’s the big issue people have with it.

There are few hundred x and y positions that the analog stick can produce, and some techniques in the game require precision down to 3, or maybe less, specific analog values. That’s pretty damn hard. The smashbox has a set of digital buttons that allow you to get specific values by doing different button combos.

It’s faster, it’s more fun to most competitors and the top players of melee are such characters that you have to keep watching the tournaments. Smash 4 is slow and their top players have no personality. I don’t understand why you’d watch smash 4 over melee if you had to pick one or the other. And most people seem to

What are you talking about? It’s one of the most tight knit communitys out there, and we all share the bond of loving our game so much. That’s mostly it. I don’t know what you’ve been watching, but I’ve been to multiple tournaments, watched hundreds of hours of tournament streams and can’t even begin to relate to what

no

I don’t get this. Of course people complain about imballances, that happens in every game. And this wasn’t even what we where talking about lol.

Whoa whoa whoa, stop right there because you’re starting to trip on some bullshit.
The smash community is a big culprit? Really? That’s what you’re going with when...

Meanwhile, it also says in the article, there WASN’T a prize-pot....

Before you try and jump on the commenter, you should prooooooobably read the full article.

I don’t know why you whould say that when most big esports orgs have a smash player on their team, c9, tsm, clg, g2, eg etc. Do they not qualify as big?
