That said, I’ll take Dan of Dan Vs. over that guy any day. And sure, you’d find a character drawn that way in certain cartoons of the time, but it was usually a character that was being drawn somewhat ugly on purpose. Like Elmyra from Tiny Toons.

The goal of any non-profit fan project like this is to simply get to completion and release before getting shut down. Any takedown notice afterward is more a formality than anything. By taking it down themselves, they’re just wrapping up a loose end so they can be truly done.
